it is a good script, but needs a lot of hard work to make it perfect, specially because the example shown is not what the script is given, and the You need to specify at least one category. shows when i try to open my feed.php, still on the run to make it complete, but it has some great implementions of the automation content shown from the mysql db

You shouldn’t need to specify at least one category. You can just opt not to use the category element if you do not wish to use it at all. Of course if that’s not what you meant, please elaborate on the exact problem you’re having :)

Also, what exactly do you mean with ‘the example shown is not what the script is given’? If you could explain that, I would be glad to try and find a solution to your problem :)

Can this be implemented and used for multiple categories? If not, do you know how I can set up individual RSS feeds for different categories on my website? Thanks in advance.

Tinovanderlaan

You mean like different categories on, for example, a blog? So if you had a category on Music and a category on Sports, that you would have a separate RSS feed for each category?

If so, that’s fairly simple to do. You would just do the same thing as you would when normally implementing this system, except you will need to make an exact copy of the feed.php file that comes with the download, and obviously rename it. That way you have two separate RSS feeds that you can link to. So on the Music category you can link to, say, music_feed.php whereas on the Sports category you can link to sports_feed.php.

Does that answer your question?

Yes it does. Thank you very much. I will be purchasing this script in the coming days and will likely be coming back here for my help. Thanks again.

You’we welcome. I’m glad I was able to help!

If you ever come across anything you need help with regarding this item, don’t hesitate to ask, preferably in the comments.

I’m trying to set this up, but I can’t figure out how to view my progress? You said to go to feed.php but I didn’t see anything. I’d like to implement this into my blog for a # of different categories. Can you help me out any?

Tinovanderlaan

Yes, I can, after you actually purchase my item, which you apparently haven’t yet.

Get a legal copy of it first instead of a pirated one, and I’ll gladly help you out.

are there any options to allow my websites url to be part of the feed?

Tinovanderlaan

Yes, there is.

The base URL gets generated for you dynamically and you can specify the file you are creating a feed for. Together, that complete URL gets added to your feed automatically, as such:

$config[‘file_name’] = ‘blog.php’;

That would give something like this:

http://www.example.com/blog.php

I hope that helps.

I do not have a pirated copy. I’m trying to figure out how this would work and look inside a blog page. I want this to work as I’ve explained in previous comments. If it does, I will gladly purchase your script. Just don’t want to purchase if it’s not what I am looking for.

Tinovanderlaan

Then why did you say you were already trying to set it up and wanted to view your progress?

Either way, did you actually reference feed.php in the page you’re creating a feed for?

I am wondering about image support, I’ve only seen text support…

I have a store that doesn’t have its own rss feeds and this would be a great substitute, however, images are very important to us…

If images are available then I’m a buyer

Tinovanderlaan

Hi jahmorly. First of all, my apologies for the late reply. I was on a two-week vacation of which I returned today.

Anyway, what exactly do you mean with images being available? Do you mean as in being able to use your own images in RSS content, or more if the package includes any images?

Very nice! At the beginning I was lost because the documentation page seemed very very long! But you just need to follow instructions on paragraph 5 “How to use” and in 20 min it’s done. Thank you!

Tinovanderlaan

You’re welcome!

Thanks for purchasing and I’m glad you like the item!

Hi. I just cannot make it create feed in Russian. The database is utf-8, the http-server is also set to utf-8, $config[‘channel_language’] = ‘ru’; But I keep getting stuff like”Ð?Ñ?га” instead of cyrillic characters.

Tinovanderlaan

Hi Poxy,

That sure is an interesting problem. If you want you could email me the files as you have them right now and I’ll take a look at it for you (and hopefully fix it, of course!).

Otherwise, from the top of my head, I don’t really know what could be causing it…

hello tino thats program create xml file for feedburner ? correct? my question is: that program have interface where cliente writing him feed, and program transform in .xml and send for ftp? you can help me that questions? cheers

Tinovanderlaan

Hi Douglas,

No, the point of this app is to dynamically generate the RSS feed for you, but it doesn’t automatically give you an XML file which then gets uploaded via FTP .

However, you could, if you wanted, copy the source of feed page, save that to an XML file and then upload that file manually.

I hope that answers your question!

Hello there,

If i have content that is updated via a CMS like products in an eshop – can this rss generator autoupdate when a new product is added?

Thank you.

Tinovanderlaan

If you set up the generator correctly, it will indeed automatically update whenever you add a new product.

I set this up as best I can tell, exactly how the documentation said, but I’m getting a string of errors starting with: DOMDocument::load()

There are seven of these errors and some of the descriptions are:

- AttValue: ” or ’ expected… - attributes construct error in… - Couldn’t find end of Start Tag link line 33… - Opening and ending tag mismatch…

I am using URL rewriting in an .htaccess file to remove the .php file if that’s got anything to do with it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Great script. I have it running perfect. Simple and essential options. My coding knowledge and your good documentation had this up and running quickly. Thanks for a script I’ve been looking for.

Will this script work on a blog platform that is a flat file without a database?

I have no php variables to pass along to your script. Is it still possible to use this script or can you help me with assign a php var to my blog post titles and descriptions?
