On 15th June you said:

“I have added an extra feature for those people who use this to send to lots of people. It will paginate the results under “stats” so that the page will not time out. Will be available for download once envato approves it, probably tomorrow.”

It is now 5 days from your upload. Can you please send an email to envato team, so they can appove it?

Thanks in advance, Antonio

Man, another script. Good work!

Quick question, what method does it use to send emails? And have you thought about incorporating PHPMailer?

dtbaker dtbakerreplied

Yes, it uses PHPMailer + SMTP . It will use the default PHP sendmail if you do not complete any SMTP options during setup (not recommended).

This is really cool and extremely useful. I am going to tinker around with it a bit as I think I can definitely use it.

Great script- leaves design /css up to us. Question – Can you set a date to send newsletters? Example, if you a going away and want to set up email to be sent on set day/s/ month.

Brilliant work.

Looks like a really good system…. (or it will be in the next version) this is a bit of a chicken and egg situation…. if I buy this version will we get a special offer on the next version? Tracking is really important to me and I need to see who’s clicked on what etc. Is this what your working on?

“Step 4: Save”

That’d be Step 5 ;)

Does this come with a templating system? I want to skin it to make it pretty for clients, but do not want to have to constantly retheme it every time an update comes out. Basically I’d have a header+footer code which would wrap all the “content” section, then some CSS for the tables and headings and whatnot.

It could work by splitting the app into sections (not sure what you have at the moment, so guessing): /theme/ /newsletters/ /system/

Then when an update comes up, I just delete the old system/core folder and upload the new one. Theme would contain the site theme, newsletters would contain all the newsletters etc (basically everything thats “data/addon” and not part of the actual code which you would update).

If that worked like that/when it does, I’d buy it for sure :-)

There is 1 css file that doesn’t change between updates, and a few php files that will change between versions.

You can easily style the app using css, and keep your css file between versions.

I’ll look into making a header/footer file in future versions for those who want more fine grain tuning.

Definetely want header+footer. Without it, it looks very “programmer-y”. Wouldn’t take long to setup a simple PHP include that wrapped around it all.

If you manage to get those additions (as listed above) done I would pay 10x the amount it currently is.

One question though – is this double opt-in for new sign-ups if not then it really needs to be to stop a lot of spam signups – I believe it’s part of the spam regulations for emailing newsletters. Also the newsletters (including content) need to have inline styling to ensure correct delivery to most email clients now – does the system do this?

Sorry for the questions and no sale – I’ll probably just purchase tomorrow and mess around with it anyways – Really great stuff and I will be watching VERY closely.

Hey, thanks for the feedback.

Double-opt in is easy, consider it done.

The 2 basic templates have inline styles, and tinymce wysiwyg editor produces inline styles 99% of the time.

My commercial mailer has an automatic inline style converter, which I could copy & paste into a future version. Styles will only be an issue if someone gets in there and manually edits the html, if you use the wysiwyg editor it should be no dramas.

Cheers, dtbaker

wow… great stuff…

perhaps the option to add an analytic system would be nice.. to see where and from which emails the people are clicking

what do you mean by “where and from” exactly?

dates and times, and which links are clicked I can do.

tracking email program types is a no go, but it is possible to track browser types / operating systems.

IE7 – untested? I´d gladly kick IE6 , but… Anyone of the buyers already tried that? This script is really useful, but I´d like to know about that first.

How many emails can this handle? 100, 1,000, etc…?

Posted 1 year ago
Author

dtbaker dtbakerreplied

Currently it is set to send in bursts of 20 or so at a time, with a second or two in between. The next version will allow you to configure these settings.

So basically it will handle as many emails as you want.

There are a few things in the next version that will make 100+ members easier to manage, eg: csv import, member search, etc…
