Nice idea, but it is a little buggy when you hover over an option while it is animating. Here is a screenshot of what I mean: http://s588.photobucket.com/albums/ss329/iapcsolutions/?action=view&current=menu.jpg

Also, I went into some of the menu sub levels and accidently removed my mouse and lost it all. I had to start from the beggining circle and navigate through again. Maybe a delay before closing?

Other than that, very unique! Bookmarked

Hey, many thanks for this delay idea. I will implement it soon.

Yes, I know about this bug, that’s why I recomended seeing live preview. IDK how to get rid of it, anyhow I think it’s showing up only in quite deep menus.

Regards.

This is quite cool.

Funnily enough ( wont post his website ) but I have been in discussiions with Nirvana ( jquery coder ) for some time, he offers/has done a similar menu system.

I think your menu system would benefit from focus state for hover with persistence.

Good work tho, I think the share function would be popular. Just fix the transiition issue when losing focus from one submenu/child item and having to start all over again, and it would be nigh on perfick

I am pretty sure google wonderwheel had similar issues.

That’s why there is no IE6 and IE7 in the compatibility column.

This is pretty cool, except I don’t like how it just closes all of a sudden if you accidental mouse off a picture.

This is sweet. The social one has to be the best.

Needs some polish though, I know you’re probably working on support for IE6 /IE7. Even though that’s a pain, it’s still a huge market share that will miss out on your awesome user interface experience.

The delay will make it more enhance the ergonomics. You’ve gotta try to make up for the user who can’t hold their mouse still.

If you get good cross-browser support, I will buy it definitely.

Hello, I just bought this, and I love it. I am using it for a pretty specific need of a client, and he was curious is there anyway to make it automatically open up? Not a big issue (i was going to put in instructions), but is it possible to have the orbit animation happen without the mouseover/hover?

Yes, just call mouseover event on your jOrbital element.

example:

$(function() {

$.orbital.jOrbital({});
$(".orbital").mouseover();

});

of course you can invoke it anywhere in the script – for example when hovering any other element:

$(”#myOtherElement”).mouseover(function() { $(”#myOrbit”).mouseover(); });

Hiya

It is a lovely piece

As said previously I would buy it too but only if the IE6 and IE7 problems are fixed…

Good luck it is really nice!

Nice script! I was curious whether you’ve found a way to implement a delay on animation so the glitch that iapcsolutions spoke on does not occur.
