Great work! I’ve investigated the preview with firebug and it seems like the typewriter script doesn’t show characters like &, <, > or ” correctly – it types/displays & amp;, & quot; , etc…

I know it’s a commom js problem but you could fix it with. i.e. a string replace function.

Hey,

I tried it in my browser. It just works fine for me. Maybe set a meta tag in the HTML for the encoding.

<meta content="text/html; charset=UTF-8" http-equiv="Content-Type" />

Thanks for the response. I’m sorry – I didn’t express myself clearly enough. When you use “&” the js works fine because it outputs every character one by one. But when i.e. & amp;, & quot; is used instead of “&” or ” then the script types & before “&” is displayed. (Maybe it’s only firebug related but I don’t think so). Hope you can reproduce this behaviour :)

So you would like to use these characters: >,<,”

Just type it in the options. You dont need the HTML entity.

$('ul li').fancyTypewriter({customCharacters:'>,<,"'});

will this work with Wordpress themes?

radykal

Yes, but it´s not a wordpress plugin. You have to tell the plugin, which tag it should add the effect.

I just brought this. Can you provide an example of how to use the callback function? I’m trying to guess the syntax, but can’t figure it out.

If you do this: $(’#mytext’).fancyTypewriter({type:true, steps:3, timeBetweenSteps:30, ‘mouseOver’: false, underScore:true, callback:test() });

test() is run at the start of typing, not the end of the typing. I really need it to run after typing.

I’m using the latest jQuery (1.5.1).

Thanks!

radykal

Delete the braces, you dont need them:

$(’#mytext’).fancyTypewriter({type:true, steps:3, timeBetweenSteps:30, ‘mouseOver’: false, underScore:true, callback:test });

Thanks!

Is there a way to do the scramble effect much quicker? I’d like to do a whole paragraph in a couple of seconds.

Thanks for the help!

radykal

Yes just decrease steps and timBetweenSteps:

$(’#mytext’).fancyTypewriter({type:true, steps:2, timeBetweenSteps:10, ‘mouseOver’: false, underScore:true, callback:test });

Hi,

Your script is very interesting! :)

Is It possible to again obtain the effect after a pause for example two ?

Thanks!

I would like to display the message in loop.

A Little like: http://www.hungry-media.com/code/jQuery/tickerType/

...but with the possibility of using setTimeout for example.

A possible solution?

Thanks!

Mick

radykal

Sorry. This is not possible by default. Only in a custom job or you have to do it by yourself.

I just purchased your script today, and it works great. Well done!

Is there a way to delay the execution of the script? What I’m hoping to do is set autoPlay to true, but with a delay. Do you know of a way to accomplish that?

radykal

You can set a timeout with javascript. Here is a article where its well explained when you dont know how to set a timeout:

http://www.electrictoolbox.com/using-settimeout-javascript/

The trigger function will execute your fancy typewriter code.

That’s terrific. Thanks for the help!

Hi,

I would like to use another event when animation is finished.

Is It possible with a condition?

if fancyTypewriter() == END { my animation }

Thanks!

Mick

radykal

Yes there is already an option where you can set a function that will be called when the animation has ended. Just read the documentation. The option for it is callback!

For example:

$('#myText').fancyTypewriter({callback:myEndFunction});

function myEndFunction() {
console.log('END');
}

Very cool. Love the typewriter effect. Would be cool to see this developed into a Twitter feed reader.

radykal

Yeah but not my plans ;)

Buyers beware author does not offer support for this file unless you paid him. The author told me to open a thread on his support site only to find out that he was intending to charge me for the support. I would NOT recommend buying any files from this author ! Take your hard earned money elsewhere is my only advice!

radykal

I will not flag this comment, because other users can read that. Moflight thought that I will teach him how to handle a jquery plugin. It seems that he has no coding knowledge in jquery and he would like to have a step-by-step guide how a jquery plugin works. Everyone knows here, when he purchase a jquery plugin, he has basic knowledge in it. Thats not the sense when purchasing a 5$ file and you think you rent me for hours to give you a exact tutorial in coding. Good luck to find someone else here on codecanyon. No one from the authors will do that here, because thats not the part of license. You should read the terms and conditions of envato!!
