That’s a good point. But importing data would only work on simple database systems. Once you start adding foreign keys and dependencies, then it becomes impossible to do track… a standard script would add the necessary logic, which is beyond the purpose of these simple small apps.

When I export something, it does not looks nice… There is no table displayed, only alle the information behind eachother separated by komma’s.

Yes, that’s what a CSV file is… comma separated value. If you have MS Excel installed on your system, then you can open the CSV and it will display the data in nice table format… else it’s just raw data text file.

Hi Robert

Love this script simple to install and execute – Question : can I preview the entire table instead of just 5 columns?

Thanks for an excellent script – I encourage others to buy this!

Yeah, I think you can preview the full table… there isn’t a limit setting… maybe in the sql query but nothing in the php code that limits the results or columns.

I believe you have to use single quote in mysql… so select * from mytable where id = ‘1’

Can you provide an example of the csvaction.php code that does not require the front-end form to be filled in?

e.g.

1. I have a page in my app with a link/button that calls csvaction.php when clicked.

2. All the connection info and the query sql have been preset in the csvaction.php page.

3. So the result is that onClick the user just downloads the CSV file and doesn’t need to know/fill in the data in the front-end form.

This way your script can be called from any page where I want to add a CSV download function, making the script more useful.

Rob

Thanks for your help by email, your answer below solves my problem.

In csvAction.php, you can fill out line 9-14… and remove line 18-29.

Is there a way to adjust this so that it exports as a .doc instead?
