ok but how can i remove the “I want to recveive news in my mailbox!” checkbox? That should be by default “no” – i don’t want that donators get extra emails.

can i just delete that part form the HTML or will it cause errors?

thanks

Just delete that part of HTML and don’t send your visitors emails :)

Hey there,

Nice plugin – really flexible. I have next to no PHP knowledge and managed to implement this without too much fuss. Also really easy to skin.

I do have one issue though, when leaving a donation – if someone uses an apostrophe (‘), I get a mySQL error at that point. Is there not a way to handle this?

Hello Philmo, thank you for the feedback, I will look into this as soon as I can. I already have an idea what could be the problem, but I am rather occupied at the moment.

After no response for 2 months I eventually fixed this myself.

I have another bug though. After paying with PayPal, the user has to click on ‘Return to Website’ for it to actually be marked as active and appear on the site. If they don’t then as far as the site is concerned, they never paid – except that they actually have.

The charity site we are using this on is finding that over half of all donations are being received but are not appearing on the website.

Any chance you would add customization into this for a PHP script of mine? I would be willing to pay you.

The idea is that I have a website with users already on it. And would like them to be able to donate, and then have it show up on their profiles.

Hi, I need to implement paypal donation before to download documents from website; I would like that in the email sent to the donator after paypal donation would be present a username and password taken from a mysql table to access a restricted area to download files, is it possible in your script? Thanks!

So you want a user management system, that allows access to restricted file. that is a different system. Donation system doesn’t have that functionality currently. I might create something similar some day, but I can’t promise anything.

I have a question regarding the general functionality of your script.

Does it include Paypal support in a way that donations are verified via IPN or TXN validation or anything?

Or do I have to verify the transactions manually in oder to unlock user-comments and all the fluff?

Thank you very much in advance.

Hey cam2k. By default the script verifies the donations via IPN .

Hello, Very nice system! But – I am having a problem logging into the Admin. I have changed my user/pw in the config.php file, but after I login successfully and click continue, it takes me right back to the login. round and round…

I’m not sure what is happening. I have added the @ to the session_start(); of the login.php page… but it’s still happening.

any suggestions? thanks! Michelle

You’re using an editor, that adds a utf8 “BOM” to the file, when you edit it. For this reason, the session is not able to start properly. Get a different editor, and save the file without BOM . On windows you can use a free “Notepad++”, on a mac -I don’t think macs have this issue. Regards, Norris.

Hi, thanks for the help.

I’m on a Mac, I’m was using TextWrangler but I opened and re-saved the following using TextEdit.

admin/login.php admin/index.php

as plain text.

And it’s still occurring. It’s very strange because it will randomly work and then I can’t get back in. Is there another file I should edit?

It is pretty easy to install, and it is going to work if you set it up correctly and don’t mess it up yourself :)

so this is pretty useless right now, how do I fix it

**I found the problem, make sure you use https and not http in paypal config file, http shouldn’t be an option anymore

I have a website in 3 currencies: dollars, euros and pound sterling.

Is it posible to accept different currencies?

If not, is it posible to accept euro (instead of dollar)?

Thanks in advance for your reply

Yeah, sure. Open up your_script_location/paypal/includes/config.inc.php And edit this line to whichever currency you want:
$paypal[currency_code]="USD"; //[USD,GBP,JPY,CAD,EUR]

Does this script works with Paypal API to confirm the amount that has been set and that has been actual received (so hackers can’t change the $500 amount to $0,01 and get listed as $500) and also will automatically remove a user’s comment in case he files a chargeback?

These features are default options in the Paypal API so i hope you will include these in the script.

Can you give me an example where a hacker would want to donate only $0.01 and tell you that he donated 500$ ? Are you selling something, if so – then there are other, better suited solutions for you.

You have an option to have a moderation queue, and approve manually the donation listings if you’re worried about somebody tampering the donations.

Default-user indexed replied

You’re right, my comment was more about selling things and had nothing to do with donation.

Well what about the API callback that automatically remove (or draft) a comment as soon as a user makes a chargeback? This makes sense when a donor changes his mind.

I agree, it would make sense to have that, and if I will find the time to to it, I might, but I highly doubt that it is going to be anytime soon. For now – you are going to be notified by PayPal, that someone requested their money back, and you just have to take the extra step to delete the donator from the list (which you can do from your admin panel)
