Hello Is there a way to avoid the reload of an ajaxified website when I click on a result after a search ? Regards

anago

Hi!

Unfortunately there is no universal soultion for this, so I cant implement this function. It highly depends on how the template handles the ajaxified content loading, and if there is any way to trigger this handle. If you can send me a link to the website or the template I may be able to tell you if it’s possible, and if so, then how to do it.

Best regards, Ernest Marcinko

Hi!

I think I have found a solution. The ajaxy js file is responsible for the selection of the links, it needs a slight modification.

All you need to do is open up the following file on your server: wp-content/themes/musicplay/js/ajaxify.js

Please make a backup copy of it first!!

Now replace the content of the file with this modified content and save it on the server: http://pastebin.com/raw.php?i=Gg59SAHC

After reloading your site it should work. If something goes wrong, then use the backup file to restore the original.

I think it’s almost working cause when I load the home page everything is working then I click go to another section of the website or perform a search all the main content is disappearing….

anago

Oh wait. I made a mistake in that one, it will most likely not work. Here is a fixed version: http://pastebin.com/raw.php?i=xPGxeRvu

Let me know if it works :)

wepah it’s working…..!!!! crazy support !! thanx last request how can I add the search box in the menu ???

anago

No problem :)

I think you need to edit the templates header.php for that, if there is no widget area on the top. In the wp-content/themes/musicplay/header.php you should see something like
<div class="primarymenu menuwrap">
  ....
</div>

you should put the search php shortcode there:

<div class="primarymenu menuwrap">
    <?php echo do_shortcode('[wpdreams_ajaxsearchpro id=2]'); ?>
</div>

I’m not sure if that will work, or if it will look ok. Also, if you want 2 searches on the same page, you will need to create another one for the header, and use it’s shortcode there.

You can open a support ticket here if you are having trouble: http://wp-dreams.com/open-support-ticket-step-1/

I’m going offline soon, so if you choose to open a support ticket I will answer only tomorrow. If so, please provide temporary ftp/admin access as well so I can work faster. I hope that the upper mentioned solution will work though.

Best, Ernest

Hi, I’m considering purchasing this plugin. Does this plugin have the capability to leverage custom fields for BuddyPress groups?

Hey! works great but… it does´t seem to be seaching numbers. Many of my products´ name are just references (ie C-220) but when I seach “220” I get a “no results” message. Is there any way I can configure the plugin to make it work?

Thank you :)

anago

Hi!

Try to turn off the fulltext search mode. Mysql fulltext usually ignores strings below length of 4 and numbers as well :) Here is how you do it, it’s one setting: http://wp-dreams.com/faqs/the-search-is-not-properly-searching-some-3-or-less-letter-characters/

Don’t forget to clear the search cache afterwards if you have it enabled :)

Love this plugin! It is exactly what I needed!

Can you tell me if there is a way to “unlink the post title” in search results?

Thank you!

emgproductions

BTW – I did find under “advanced options” in Title Field “unlink_post_title” but it doesn’t do anything to the search results :(

anago

Hi!

I’m not sure what do you mean by unlinking the post title. Changing to something else, or making it non-clickable?

Hi … Loving the plugin thanks for making it.

Please can I ask if it’s possible to turn of the settings button that appears on the left or right? For one of my search widget I was trying to make it as simple as possible.

Thanks

anago

Hi!

Yes it is possible. Try turning off everything on the “Frontend search settings” panel, and the icon will disappear.

Hi Ernest,

I’ve loved Ajax Search Pro – it’s worked great for search… however, I just got a bill for my web host (Media Temple) that I have gone over my GPU allowance. My bill was $1000 more than normal – they said that the culprit was ajaxsearchpro.php and was using 96% of GPU usage. I’m not sure how that would happen. I don’t know if that file got hacked or compromised… but I wanted to give you a heads up. I really liked using the plugin but am unsure how to proceed.

anago

Hi!

Sorry to hear that, that sounds very bad :( The only way to achieve server load this high is by constantly parsing the search plugin over and over again from perhaps remote locations. Are you using the latest (2.4) version? There was a flaw in previous (pre 2.x) version that could have caused such issues. This might have been a hacking attempt. If you manage to get more details from your service provider about this issue, then I might be able determine the cause. I’m planning to release a new version soon, if you manage to get any more details on this please do so by messaging me via my profile page.

If you don’t have the latest version installed, then please do so. First delete all the search instances you have on the search options page, then delete the plugin from the plugin manager and install the latest one.

Please contact me if anything changes or if you have more details on the gpu issue!

Hi, i’m having problem with the filter check box on the search bar. here is my link. http://test.textaproperty.com/

anago

Hi!

The css file is still the default one. Please open up the search settings and save the search once. After reloading the page it should be ok.

anago

In case the changes are not saving, then you need to chmod the css folder, or enable inline styles.

Here is an article on how you can do that: http://wp-dreams.com/faqs/the-search-is-not-saving-the-changes-i-made/

Best, Ernest :)

hi Ernest, Ive tried both techniques and still no luck

anago

Hi!

In the meantime I have examined your site, and some kind of jQuery plugin named “ezMark” is altering the search code. It is modifying the checkboxes and that’s why they are not working. I believe it is coming from the theme files, I’m not sure.

Can you open a support ticket with this with temporary admin ftp details? I can try to modify the javascript code that is causing this.

anago

In case you can’t provide private details I might already have a solution.

1. Download the following file: https://db.tt/HZDJf2H9

2. Replace the wp-content/themes/realia/assets/js/realia.js javascript file on your server with the downloaded file.

3. Clear the browser cache and reload the page, it should look fine after.

Let me know :)

Hi, i cant click the gear icon on the left of my search bar. http://test.textaproperty.com/

anago

Hi!

It’s because some empty content in the slider is hovering over some parts of the page, as I can see from chrome debugger: http://i.imgur.com/4KZyNVb.png

It’s coming from the revolution slider as I can see. Maybe you need to add slides to the slider to make it work properly.

HI – the plugin looks great although I’m surprised by some of the lack of options. Maybe the admin doesn’t show them: Is there a way to:

1. Turn off images from results (we don’t usually use them

2. Turn off dates

3. Sort by category results

4. Turn on/off multisite

I just purchased but the forum isn’t verifying me so I can’t get support.

I create a new search form and it says “Search Form Successfuly added!” but nothing appears except for the message. I’ve turned off caching and other plugins but it’s not working in a standard Genesis theme. I’m wondering how you solved these issues in the past. Thank you.

Hi! it is most likely that the satabase tables were not created. Can you please check if the wp_ ajaxsearchpro table exists in your database?

Thanks – You’re right – the table wasn’t created. Would reinstalling work or would I need to manually insert the tables? Odd that it’s not creating the table.

anago

No problems. I remember once somebody had a similiar problem, we could not figure out why.

Anyways I think you will need to run 2 queries manually in order to make it work:

CREATE TABLE IF NOT EXISTS `wp_ajaxsearchpro` ( `id` int(11) NOT NULL AUTO_INCREMENT, `name` text NOT NULL, `data` text NOT NULL, PRIMARY KEY (`id`) ) DEFAULT CHARSET=latin1 AUTO_INCREMENT=1;

and the other one:

CREATE TABLE IF NOT EXISTS `wp_ajaxsearchpro_statistics` ( `id` int(11) NOT NULL AUTO_INCREMENT, `search_id` int(11) NOT NULL, `keyword` text CHARACTER SET utf8 COLLATE utf8_unicode_ci NOT NULL, `num` int(11) NOT NULL, `last_date` int(11) NOT NULL, PRIMARY KEY (`id`) ) DEFAULT CHARSET=latin1 AUTO_INCREMENT=1;

Make sure that you have the right table prefix. (wp_ in the queries above, it’s the default)

Hopefully these queries will run without a problem. If the tables are created, then you should be able to create the search instances.

Hello,

I have a few questions and concerns, please advise.

1. I’ve selected the theme “minimal red” under the theme chooser option, however, the changes haven’t taken effect!?

2. How can I decrease the results boxes by 50%

Reference Link: http://www.glenhelen.com/the-wall/

anago
anago Author

Hi!

1. If the changes are not taking effect, then it’s most likely that the CSS and cache folders are not writeable. Here is a quick guide of how to change that: http://wp-dreams.com/faqs/the-search-is-not-saving-the-changes-i-made/

2.1 The width of the result box is adapting to the search bar width. You can change the width if the layout type of the result box is “block” and not “hover”. Let me know if you want to change this.

2.2 The height of the items is adjustable in the theme options. If you are using vertical results, then on the “Theme options” – > “Vertical Results” panel. http://i.imgur.com/yjap5vi.png

Hi Anago,

I have found an issue with the css code for style1.css. All the links to images and fonts are hardcoded to http://fresh.test.wp-dreams.com/wp-content/plugins/ajax-search-pro/file.type

which means that they need to be edited. This should be fixed in the next update.

anago
anago Author

Hi!

They are not hardcoded, the style files are generated based on your options. If you see bad images it means that your CSS and cache folders are not writeable on the server.

Here is a faq article of how and wich folder permissions needs to be changed: http://wp-dreams.com/faqs/the-search-is-not-saving-the-changes-i-made/

After chagning the permissions you should save the search settings and the image paths in the css file should be correspondent to your server.

You can also enable “Force inline styles” option on the compatibility option panel if the changes are not being saved after changing the file permissions.

TigerModules

Hmm… I will give it a go but when looking at all the style(x).css files have the fonts and images linked via url. Take a look at the screenshot.

anago
anago Author

Yes they do, but those are only as default values. Not all of the stylesheets are loaded. For example if you create your first search instance, it gets the ID 1. Now, when you save the settings then the style1.css file will be overwritten based on the style.css.php template. style2.css, style3.css etc.. are still untouched, and not used, because they are not used until you create more search instances. So each search instance has it’s own dynamically generated css file.

The reason why the filer are already there is because on some servers the script was not able to create the css files only overwrite them.

In the frontend header you should only see the correspondent style(x).css files loaded. If you have a search instance with ID 1, then only the style1.css will be in the frontend header.

However if the style(x).css in the frontend head contains the default hard-coded values, it means that you have a permission issue.

Don’t forget to save the search instance once it’s created to override these default values.

TigerModules

Thanks for that. Now i understand. I have never experienced this before but now I know.

Can this search images in a category? Example Nexgen image gallery.

anago

Hi!

I believe nextgen gallery will not work with the search. They are using custom post types, however the diract image references are not stored in the wp_posts table.

Hi,

Is there an option to make the serach appear without hitting enter? just like google instant search

anago
anago Author

Hi!

If you look at the demo, you will see that it works exactly like that. After 3 characters the search automatically activates and searches the database for results. This is disabled for mobile devices though for better user experience – because there is a “Search” button on the mobile keypad.

Pre-sale question:

I have 2 categories on my websites.

Game Answers Game Reviews

Is it possible to have a search where the visitors clicks either Answers or Reviews and the search will only display posts of the category they clicked?

Note: I cannot exclude other categories because my website has 100’s of them, and I’ll be adding lots more categories in the future.

Default-user

Just to be clear, I know you can exclude categories in the plugin, but I’d like to only include these 2 categories, separately.

I’m testing your plugin with WP 3.9, BP 2.0.1, bbPress 2.5.4, Events Manager 5.5.3.1 plugins and BuddyPress default theme. I added <?php echo do_shortcode(‘[wpdreams_ajaxsearchpro id=1]’); ?> to theme header section.

When I search events through events manager default search option, Ajax Search Pro search field disapears from the header section and [wpdreams_ajaxsearchpro id=1] shordcode is printed.

Can you please, let me know how to avoid this problem ?

You can download events manager plugin from this link. http://wordpress.org/plugins/events-manager/
anago

Hi!

Somehow the event calendars search form was triggering the post action request (its usually used in ajax requests), and on that case the search doesn’t load (ajax search pro does not load in some cases for better performance)

Anyways, I was able to fix it with a tiny change in the code. If you can edit files on your server, then please open up the wp-content/plugins/ajax-search-pro/ajax-search-pro.php file and go to line 59, you should see this:

if (is_admin() || (!is_admin() && !isset($_POST['action']) )) {

change it to this:

if (is_admin() || (!is_admin() && !isset($_POST['action_']) )) {

It should fix the issue :) I’m including a similar fix in the upcoming version of course. Thank you for reporting the bug!

codebunny

It works. :) Thanks for your time and quick response.

Hi mate is it possible to search in those tables from this plugin

http://codecanyon.net/item/wpdatatables-responsive-tables-in-wordpress/3958969
anago

I’m afraid not. As far as I can see the plugin is used to create custom tables and the Ajax search pro can only adapt to custom post types.
