Does anyone know what changes are necessary to fix the overly large logo on invoices when exporting to PDF? I’ve emailed the author twice and have received no response. Thanks community!
I have a small CPA firm and would like to use this as a client portal within my website. Will that work and is security good enough for tax data (tax returns, etc.)
I’m curious, this seems to be perfect for what I need but is there a way to customize the look of the program to match my existing site to? I would like for it to all look uniform and not like the client is visiting a completely site separate site. Would it just be a matter of hacking up the css? Thanks!
THE AUTHOR DESERVES THE $20! The amount of time that he has put into this application is obviously substantial. Now comes the “BUT.” But, if you are not totally comfortable in a computer environment (php, database, permissions, etc.) don’t spend the money and don’t get the application. From the comments here, there are enough (many) buyers who have trouble with the installation. For the $20 price, of which the author gets maybe 1/3, he simply cannot babysit you/me. For me, the initial $20 is not an issue, but after hours and hours of beating my brains against the wall the $20 all of a sudden becomes a big deal because it becomes much more than that.
I really liked what I saw in the Live Preview of the Advanced Client Portal. I thought it would not be a big deal installing it and paid my $20. After all, that’s about what a big drink and fries cost. I knew that the author could not babysit me, that he was sparse with his answers, but I went ahead anyway. I now regret that. The install did not work. I emailed the author and did not hear back. But like I said, he cannot babysit me. After spending over 12+ hours reading about php, mysql, phpmyadmin, figuring out where the config is being created, and trying other different things I have given up.

The application author has been in contact with me. As I admitted and stated in my previous post, the author more than earned the money that I paid for the script. I am giving this application a 4 star. I deducted 1 star from perfect because I believe that he has fallen short in 2 aspects.
1.) In the write-up on the product page he has not clearly indicated that this is not a cookie-cutter application. Depending on a number of issues YOU may have to make changes to the code. 2.) The installation manual is very sparse.
In my case, I am a paper pusher who knows nothing about php or databases, but I do know a tiny bit about programming. I learned Basic in college 45 years ago. I am thankful I did, because I had to go through his script and make changes (field sizes, variables, etc.) I think the author should have said something about this to alert the user. In the financial world we call this “full disclosure.”
Due to my lack of technical knowledge the installation manual left a lot to be desired. As a small example, tell the user what “navigating to” means by showing exactly how. In all I spent about 20 hours on this installation because I had to learn a little bit about php (thank goodness for google), had to go through all of the scripts in ACP (through the cPanel code editor) to make sure I was not missing anything, and then had to go through mySql to make sure I understood that. The author’s emailed suggestions were generic, they added little except to convey to me that he cared. That was important because it showed that he was interested. But for the $10 net (approx) that he gets from this, you and I should not expect too much in-depth analysis or debugging from the author. If I were him, I won’t even get-out-of-bed for that amount.
After 20 hours (in my case), lots of frustrated mumbling, I learned something (which is always good), the application WORKED AS SHOWN. Bottom line, if you need this type of application, if you know what you are doing, or have a lot of time if you don’t, I recommend this script. Actually, it is quite elegant: FOUR STARS.
Hi Robert. I’m really sorry about all the trouble you had, but NONE of the issues you encountered were related to the script itself.
The installation process is extremely straightforward. Using the wizard all you need to do is enter your desired database name (it’s pre-populated with a good default name), as well as your db username, password, and hostname. The entire process takes less than a minute if you know your db username etc.
There is no need to make any changes to the code. As I stated in my email, the error message you were getting was very specific and it meant that you entered the incorrect value for either your username, password, or hostname. Correcting this information would have given you immediate access to the application.
If you made any changes to the code, they were completely unnecessary.
Again, I’m sorry about all of the trouble you had, and I wish I could have been more help, but the setbacks you encountered weren’t related to any issues with the script or the documentation.
To quote a reply mentioned above…
“The installation process is extremely straightforward. The installation on my script does not allow for the entry of the database name. The manual says to use ‘apc’ however, my host requires my “username_apc” as the database name. It will not let me change it through the installation setup.
The manual says to edit the config.php file and add the details, however there is NO config.php file.
While I agree with the previous user that the author is not here to babysit me, I do, however, think that a working script for the $20 isn’t asking too much.
Please help??
You can change the database name to anything you want in during the installation. It’s just an input field pre-populated with a default value, but you can change it…
The installation should really take no more than 60 seconds if you have your database information…
Please email me via my profile page if you’re having trouble.
Hi,
Does your project support recurring payments?
Downloaded, database created, wizard used..et voilà it works perfect! Great Tool! Thanks
Awesome. I’m glad your installation experience went well!
Hi 23andwalnut,
I’m writing to support your script and your work.
I have good understanding of IT but, the installation was new to me.
I had two attempts and the second one worked.
I have tried few different file handling scripts (free and paid) and I have to admit yours is the closest to what I need.
I like the simplicity (when installed) !!!
I will have many questions just because, I need to learn more
Good job!
Regards
Hi. Thank you very much for the kind words!
Hello, i was wondering before i consider buying the script if its possible and easy to change the language to Swedish as im making websites in swedish for my clients. I hope there is because it would greatly take time away from doing all this from scratch for me!
/Twibble
Yes, it’s fairly easy to change the language if you’re comfortable with php. You’ll need to manually modify each of the view files.
Can you specify what those files are so i can start translating them as soon as my client sends me the files?
I’ve made it through the install wizard, now when I attempt to login with “admin” and no password, I get a blank screen.
I went into the config and enabled ‘development environment’ and then I can see this:SELECT id from clients WHERE contact_email = 'admin' Fatal error: Invalid Query: No database selected in /home/troy/public_html/subdomains/ang_clientportal/core/sqlquery.class.php on line 74Advice? Thanks
Hi. Thanks for your purchase. Please email me via my profile page for support. Thanks!
Hi, i am very much interested in buying this app for my clients, but just two questions before i can confidently go ahead with the purchase:- 1) I am located in India as per your demo when i posted a message it shows the US Time, will i be able to change that as per the Indian Time ? 2) If there is any issue that i face with your app are you still there for support ? Thanks
1) The app uses you’re server’s time. Since my server is set to use US time, that’s what is reflected in the app. As long as the time on your server is correct you will be fine.
2) Yes, I offer support.
Thanks for your quick response. For the time issue then i will have to host the app on a Indian server. The app looks great and your support too as seen here… Now i am ready to go for the purchase… Thanks again!
Hi, is it possible to add multiple clients to the same project? Thats the only thing i miss..
Unfortunately that’s not possible. There is only one client per project.
I don’t have a config.php file inside the config folder. ?
Hi. Sorry to hear you’re having trouble. Please contact me via my profile page for support.
Thank you, just sent message on your profile page.
Ok got it installed. The instructions said to add the info into the config file but I guess that was not necessary to install it. Just ran the install script and it went through the installation of everything.
Great app, thank you! Looking forward to using it.
