I always use Zend studio in combination with notepad++. The reason that I use zend studio is because it supports php objects, inheritances, ... so well.
PhpStorm
PHPed.
Been suing it for years now, brilliant IDE .
phpDesigner 7 is the winner
PHPstorm was too aggressively throwing errors when they were just mixed content type and I didn’t like the gui too much. I wanted a program that allows to have my open files on the side but then the project views got me what I wanted. Then the opened files are fine as tabs I don’t care. I like working with several languages in one file like PHP +CSS PHP +JS, or these two with HTML . And phpDesigner has an ability to fade off the other. Code highlighing works well. I also styled it up very well and it looks very good, it helps when it can but doesn’t overdo it. Love it so far.
I use Netbeans with custom code templates. http://www.netbeans.com/
