So what is to stop people from re-selling themeforest themes that they’ve bought on their on website, since TF uses the GPL ?The wordpress related code is GPL but the CSS and design isn’t.How’s that different than the whole theme just not being GPL ? That’s basically just like saying “Oh no, you can copy the loops and widget code” but then everything that makes it a unique theme is not GPL .
Is there a name for the license that protects the css and design?
Yes, Copyright.

ROFLMAO !!!! +++1!!!
It’s called Intellectual Property.
“When you create copyrightable material, your copyright exists the moment you put the work into a fixed form. That is, for example: when you write it on paper, paint it on canvas, or record it in digital media. You don?t have to register or use the notice to get a copyright.”
Technically I can’t sue until I’ve registered a copyright, but it’s still copyrighted.
WordPress my be GPL , but any code, style or images I write or implement is under copyright by me.
And copyright, if I remember correctly, is sort of automatically initiated as soon as your publish work and put “Copyright My Name” on it? What about themes that come with “Copyright Your business name here”?

Yes, copyright at the bottom of the page means all content contained within the site, not code, images or style used in the theme.

That text is just an example, you’ll get the right to remove it once you get a Regular or Extended License.
I’m assuming you’re talking about ThemeForest themes.
Yeah I know you can remove it, I just meant does that in any way have anything to do with who the work is copyright to. Or to simplify, what exactly is it that links a piece of work to its original author once it is placed up for sale?

No, we put that there just as an example.

The fact that you designed/coded it. If you buy a book by, say, JK Rowling, it doesn’t mean you have copyright on it.
I didn’t understand what’s going on here.. I have no idea what Thesis is, but I just had a look on their site and they are selling a premium wordpress theme.. What’s the problem?
Sorry if I misunderstood
