Hey guys!

So I’ve been poking around the submission forms, and I’m thinking that it’s time to retire the “Valid HTML ” attribute.

It’s out-dated, and irrelevant at this point – in my opinion. But…are any of you in favor of keeping it? In my mind, the less clutter on the item page, the better. Most bloggers and buyers don’t care or understand what “Valid HTML ” is. You guys know what you’re doing, and our reviewers will continue to look over the markup themselves. Is there any reason to display this information to potential buyers?

What do you think?

I personally don’t care.

If this is true, then I believe it can be removed.

Get rid imo. As you say, most users dont understand the meaning, and will probably give it quite a different meaning. i.e. they will assume if something doesn’t validate it is ‘broken’ or ‘lower quality’ (even though there may be good reasons why something doesn’t validate). Also as we move towards html5, for which there isnt an ‘official’ validator its even more unhelpful.

Since the good markup is checked by the reviewer, I think you can get rid of it :)

The bloggers and generally most clients, don’t care about the markup, but ThemeForest should care about the quality of the code!

New authors won’t know that the themes have to be written in valid html.

@Broof – True. But isn’t that common sense these days? It’s not 2001. Besides, I’m pretty sure it’s mentioned in the upload instructions still.

It’s just a matter of whether this information needs to be advertised to potential buyers.

@JeffreyWay

Yes, I know what you mean. I think it is commonly known that TF only accepts valid themes but there are always new authors who use no valid html technique.

If it is somewhere mentioned then I think we could remove that point ;)
