You’ll notice that all the happy people (everyone except you and me!) have no items for sale on Tuts+ Marketplace :P

But lets see how it turns out.

But basically, I’d need to sell 4 times as many items as I usually would, to make up for it. So far, I’ve not even sold twice as much as usual. Granted, it’s just the first day, but I highly doubt I’ll sell 4 times the amount of items as before.

I just can’t help but think that surely there would have been a better way to do a “sale”. (for instance, just make a “50% off on everything for the month!”, or make some great group package deals, some extra free files of the month, and so on)

edit: btw Mirtt, lovely logo you got there =_=

On a sidenote, it would have been nice if authors had been informed by a mail or something.

Agreed; I want the Tuts+ Marketplace to grow, and if this will help, then I’m all for it. But it was an unpleasant shock to check my stats this morning to find that I’m only making $0.50 at a time—and then see that all my prices had been lowered. I’d have really appreciated an email a few days in advance.

However, now that I know, I’m excited to see what this will do for the Marketplace!

This promotion (and the advertising they will push behind it) will bring many new buyers to the tuts marketplaces, many who will become repeat buyers in the future as well.

Best of luck tuts authors! remember volume of sales beats price in many ways.

Might be a good time for me to attempt a few tuts+ items!

On a completely unrelated note, I’ll have you know that I have my eyes set on your third place in sales! I’m coming for you, you hear?! I’M COMING FOR YOU ! takes out Wacom Pen of Doom

Not in earnings it don’t :P Well, at least not this much ^^ But I hope to be proved wrong of course, and have to return here in a month and say I made more than ever. That would be nice (and slightly humiliating)!

I’m not going to buy a single item from tuts marketplace (even i have some items bookmarked). I will wait for the next month so the authors could get the previous amount of $ for their files. IMO , Envato, for marketing purposes and marketplace users/deposits increase just s**t on AUTHORS . This “Sale promotion” would be good for authors if their personal sales increased, but not general marketplace sales (as it is). Just, i think, it was much more better for authors if they could choose to put their file(s) on this /sale/ or NOT . Even i’m not an author, i do think from the perspective of an author, and by me, this is simply unfair.

That would actually be cool! I have a few items I wouldn’t mind putting on sales, since they were doing semi-poorly in sales anyway. Then Envato could feature that “bundle” of sale items. That would be quite nice really! Heck, I’d even support such a normal feature (but to avoid abuse (someone always putting every item on sale), you could say each Author could only have 1 or 2 items on sale at any one time), where you could see “on sale” items!
