Thank Goodness, IE6 is dead. Is it?

Thank Goodness, IE6 is dead. I thought. The shitty, blind, deaf, dumb but remarkably and unpredictably creative browser that measurably lowered all webdesigners’ productivity and cost millions of hours of stupid error fixing.

Take a look at http://www.ie6countdown.com/ – still, more than 7% use it! OK, most of them in China and supposedly “opened source”, but still …

Recently, I got a support request to fix some IE6 issues. But I think: If YouTube and most major sites have stopped supporting IE6 , why should I?

So: Do you still test and support compatibility of your items with IE6 ?

I’m working for a client who’s sites generates millions of visitors per month. We/my client are even considering of dropping support of IE7 . Supporting IE6 is a big waste of time.

I don’t even support IE7 . Take the job to fix those IE6 issues and charge $200/hour just for the stress IE6 support is a caprice which only rich people should afford

Windows XP and Vista are now both automatically upgrading. So there’s only two explanations for people still using IE6 /7. One, the user has Windows Update turned off for some reason. Two, pirated Windows.
