Probably it deals more with sales rate: if an item is selling it stays there if not it is replaced by another one..

that explains why some items stay in home page even for days :)

I don’t think this is true, I believe is more influenced by the fact that the queue line is cleared by categories and not only by the place in line. So if in the morning one reviewer check 20 items of one category, approves, let’s say 10 items, then in the evening some other, or more reviewers get they’re hands on 100 items then approve 40 is obvious the 10 items in the morning will get pushed away.

But in these last 3 days I was looking to a particular item (a layer style): that item is in the home page since the last 3 days and is selling, while other layer styles are vanished. So..

I see two text layer styles on main page and those are in the last 40 items if we check “show more recent items” button. I don’t say you wrong, I have no idea how this reviewing process works, apart the fact my items vanished after 6 hours :( the rest I say is just my theory :).

I had an item for 24 hours on the main page. same result as those who remained for six hours. zero sales. :( well, I realize now that this whole main page exposure thing is overrated. Sorry, got the virus from the activeden forum :) . Now I’m cured, so I will go back to the drawing board, it is clear that I need other concepts to work with. (Photoshop styles all the way)

Thank you everybody for your comments!

I think this depends on how many items get reviewed in a certain time.
