Greetings,

I am currently running www.thethird.dk and www.farumkyokushin.dk, and both of them are loading fairly slow. They are both set to use Cloudflare.

Currently I do not have a clue why it’s loading so slow. What could be the cause?

Thanks in advance.

I would suggest setting up a new directory with just a standard HTML file to rule out whether it’s WordPress or your hosting. From personal experience, it looks as though it may well be the hosting struggling. I suggest getting in contact with your hosting.

Are you using the CloudFlare optimizer or their CDN ?

I am currently usting DownTownHost.com as my webhost. They are Cloudflare partners which means I have the option to connect with Cloudflare directly. Whether it’s CND or optimizer – I have nu clue. How do I check that?

What do you mean by a standard HTML file to rule?

The server seems to be quite responsive, but from firebug i see major slowdowns with the slider images. They are too big! The biggest one took me around 14 sec to load.

Try to optimize them and retry

Which one of the images is taking so much time to load?

And do you recommend any specific way to optimize images for web? Other that simply saving them with a lower quality in Photoshop.

All the slider images are quite big.

I suggest to use a very simple software called RIOT .

The two sites now loads faster than before. But I am still curious about the “a standard HTML file to rule”.

I think phpdude means to run an html file on your site to see how fast it loads, maybe with a variety of images on there.
