I agree with P&K , if you want to be in the popular list .. be better than the other and you will be there ..

If you are average or less good .. you won’t sell more even if you have free exposure on the popular file.

Hi guys, this discussion seems to have no sense to me :-)

Maybe you’re right. Really. But we can do a test. Create a new anonymous account. Create such a great file as you usually create. Wait one week. If you do not sell that item many many times (what’ll be very probable) you’ll need at least 6-8 months to that file start selling like the great file it is.

After that create the same file with your P&K account. In just 2/3 weeks you’ll have the same amount of sales.

You’ll say: “normal, i’m a very well know author.”
I say: “that’s what i’m talking about”.

...

Anyway, great (and sincere) respect from this small fish.

I wasn’t suggesting that anything be removed from the Show Popular Items page… nothing would interfere with the “Giants” cash flow. Just suggesting another section to be added…

Before the Giants VS Fish thread explodes… Let’s everyone calm down… it was a suggestion to help improve the community and sales for all.. even the Giants.

Right now... you click on the Popular Items page… and you see files…

A week later… you click on the Popular Items page… and you see almost all the same files from the week before…

A week later… you click on the Popular Items page… and you see almost all the same files from the week before, from the week before…

Rinse… Repeat…

If a buyer goes away for a few weeks and wants to know “what’s new” that is actually being purchased… there’s no way that Buyer can easily see that. They only see what they saw when they left with a few new items thrown in…

The weekly sales block is half being dominated by the 3 month sales block… there’s very little exposure for the little guy, even if his stuff is good enough. Giants need the little guy too… little guys link to the marketplace, and Giants benefit from that… making the little guy happy is a good thing… ;)

So my suggestion was to make this easily viewable for buyers… by ADDING a section to the popular page…

I heard the “work hard” speech from my father years ago… I agree… I’m not asking for a free ride or free exposure. I understand fish can eventually be giants one day… I understand those before have all worked hard and paid their dues…

However, I’m trying to make suggestions on how a good marketplace can be better; for all… not just sellers, but buyers as well.

It can never explode. I’m a peaceful fish! :P
I’m agree with you, it’s what i said in my first post here. Anyway, i want to remark, i’m not expecting getting rich with this marketplace, really, just want the effort (that’s is sometimes hard) worth it. But anyway, nothing (much more this) is really important.

Friendly damp hugs.

Not true, p&k was nobody before to be somebody and if you look at my latest slideshow you will notice that it has sold only 3 times, less than many other similar files… but my slideshow is awesome and i’m the famous p&k… :-)

Really guys, the only way to be popular is to wait, be patient and work hard and well…

what have new files to do compared with recently purchased files?

to know what’s new here you can

  • subscribe to RSS
  • following authors
  • look at the recent items page

isn’t that enough for you?

Guys, really, this discussion has no sense :-)

All the big guys have been small guys before… you are small now and you have to deserve, in the same way the actual big guys deserved when they were small, to become a big…

Nobody starts here and take a place in the top files and popular list the day after… because there are too many small guys out there, so how would you chose between hundreds of files that are good at the same level? You need to be special to gain popularity and wait…
