I started learning jQuery about a year ago, and never really learned much about JavaScript itself. Big mistake! But over the past few months I’ve been diving into JS, and it’s really helped me understand more about how to optimize for jQuery, and also made me realize that jQuery isn’t always needed for everything. But it all started with a rejection from Jeremy
who then pointed me to this article:
And the two big things I learned there were about nesting functions and prototypes. When Jeremy says JavaScript is “a prototypal language”, this didn’t sink in at first but once I started to understand the idea it really changed the way I approached things.
I’ve read a lot of articles about JavaScript, but that one has certainly helped me the most. So just wanted to say thanks to Jeremy for writing it and rock on NetTuts!
