send user mail after new version

Hi,

what about having an automated mail send out to the user when one of his downloads has been updated?

I see myself regularly check some of my most interested downloads and actually find out they have a new version (some with bug-solved updated)

This manually version checking is off course very time-consuming and annoying. It can “easily” be fixed by having some kind of rss for the specific downloads for this users.

My customers often forget to download updates and keep using old versions which are, sometimes, not optimized.

A mail notification system would be the best choise, IMHO , including sales and new comments feed (with a related settings tab in Profile Settings page).

I think it would be better not to be an automatic email because not everyone actually cares or wants to subscribe. I much prefer the notification method is in form of a unique private feed of downloaded item, user can then decide whether he/she wants to subscribe by following that RSS feed. Just my $0.02

As longas the user has the option to opt In or out, then I agree.
