I have a question. Is there a difference between themeforest.com/item/blablabla?ref=ID and themeforest.com/item/blablabla/?ref=ID ? Will the referral still work with the second link ?

hmm, good question.. It could possibly stop it from counting the referral, but I dont see a benefit from using a / in the link anyway

You could always test it, you get to see how many click thoughts there have been so you could use the 2nd link and see if the clicks go up.

Yes, the referral will still work properly even if the link is written like this: http://themeforest.net/item/itemnamehere/?ref=PatrikL

If you’re unsure you can generate the proper ?ref link here – http://graphicriver.net/make_money/affiliate_program

Good luck! :)

1) he put a ? in there.

2) it works for the forum links… http://codecanyon.net/forums/thread/question-referral-id/71661?page=1#626371 vs http://codecanyon.net/forums/thread/question-referral-id/71661/?page=1#626371

Yeah never mind, thought he meant / instead of ?.

The marketplace is searching for a “GET” variable called “ref” if the user visits the marketplace for the first time (no tracking cookie is set) and a “GET” variable is just a part of the URL .

You can also do themeforest.com/item/blablabla?foo=bar&thisis=stupid&ref=ID and the referral will still work.

@devs: correct me if I’m wrong ;)
