Hey guys…. after a few attempts now at trying to get a template accepted in both the PSD and Site Templates catergories, i’m now at a point where I would like others to try tell me where I’m going wrong as the standard rejection emails are not very fruitfull in their information.

I have asked for pointers in the right direction, which I was duly given for the PSD catergory, and after the second rejection for that catergory, it was recommended by the reviewer that I code this up for submission to the Site Templates catergory.

Well, my attempt was unsuccessful last night and the overall jist of rejection stated “design” as the culprit.

I have attached a link to my screenshot.. any help would be VERY much appreciated. I put a lot of time and hard work into this template and I would very much like to see it on the marketplace :)

I respect the views and opinions of the reviewers on here and I understand that they can’t and most likely, simply don’t have the time, to critique each and every rejection, hence my post on here.

Well the first things that stand out to me is the “Some of our Recent Work” and the text color for the dates under this are hard to read due to the color.

I realize you where going for the effect of having the “Some of our Recent Work” text cut off at the bottom but at first glance it looks like it was in error.

At the bottom for the Recent Projects it is very hard to read the new icon next to the list items.

Regards, Mike

Do they reject your file for low level of design? Or for wrong category? Why they didn’t accept file as .psd and want it in HTML …

@Mike343 – duly noted, will look at improving the readability of the dates, I will also look at improving the aesthetic quality of “Some of our Recent Work” so that it’s not seen as a possible mistake.

@gabshot – the initial reviewer first rejected the PSD on the basis of ‘Aesthetic Quality’ he said it wasn’t of high enough quality, fair point taken onboard and the screenshot above shows the 2nd round after improvements, which was still rejected, but for a lot less reasoning, and when I asked for further clarification I was given the same line with no explanation.

He did however, state that it might be deemed acceptable for the Site templates category but this was not a guarantee, to which I do understand that he was not offering any guarantee’s that it would be accepted but he would recommend coding this up & submitting it.

I mean, what do people think? Is it really that bad?

If it is deemed that bad, then i’ll leave it in my archives and put it down to experience and move on.

Thanks for the comments so far :)

Don’t get down on yourself, TF rejects many designs a day, many of mine have been rejected aswell.

The PSD Template category is a tough category to get your template accepted in. So I suggest going all out on your PSD designs. If you check this thread you can see all the designs I have submitted and have been rejected (scroll down):

Thank you for your encouragement GFXsupport – i’m normally quite apt in brushing these kind of things off… i’m just stumped how standards are unevenly distributed throughout the marketplace.

I mean, how can a PSD not be good enough to sit in the PSD category, but equally be good enough to be pulled apart & coded into a fully functional website?

Surely if the design is deemed acceptable for full on coding, it’s a good enough design for being used just as a PSD ?

I also think that maybe a little bit more explanation could be used in the rejection emails… just my opinion

What would you change in my design?

Personally I think it looks awesome!. Good clean lines and from a first quick glance, looks like an easy to navigate site.

It’s definitely better than some of the disasters that have been accepted here before.

Chin up, try something new and re-submit i guess, It’s a nice template.

Only 1 page design? That is definitely a contributing reason, you should have multiple page designs.

I only put the homepage up as a screenshot for people to help out… I designed each and every page & then coded them on a recommentio to sbit to Site Templates by a Reviewer…

Please read the FULL post before making such a slapdash comment…
