A price increase based on item quality will be great :)

From what I’ve picked up, the themes already priced at $40USD or higher seem to be selling really well. I’d love some feedback from any of the Elite Authors that got to use the Price Adjustment Tool.

I have one WP theme that was priced at $40 and it’s selling just fine. On top of that, it is a Cart66 theme and (from what I can tell) about 1 in 5 users springs for the $89 Cart66 Pro license as well. I haven’t had anyone complain that it’s $5 more than the rest of themes on TF. If the theme is good, and it’s what the buyer needs, they’ll pay for it.

So that’s essentially 40 people that paid $129 for their theme + plugin combo that I know of.

$5 increase would be nice. However, it would help even more to clean up the homepage-right now $10 items get as much exposure as a $35 theme which is way more work than a landing page or 404 page etc. Maybe you could fix the number of non high premium items (premium=$35 and up) shown on the homepage. If there are more than the fixed number, the thumbs could rotate randomly between the items….

Absolutely not. This suggestion needs to be completely disregarded by everyone in this marketplace. There are some people in this community who take pride in creating landing pages and newsletter templates. Hell, some people even make a living doing it…

Your suggestion is not fair whatsoever! And it’s an insult to us “non-wordpress” theme developers.

chill – I didn’t mean to insult anyone ;-) We have a very good selling landing page in our portfolio as well and also an email newsletter template and several html themes…

I am just saying that a four day exposure on the frontpage is very very bad. We invest much more time in developing a wordpress, magento, joomla themes and also in the support compared to a landing page or email newsletter. That’s why we have to make good sales or this business is not suitable anymore. Otherwise – if this marketplace gets too competitive – authors will have to look for different ways of distribution. I am not saying it’s all that bad right now but the development in the last months make me believe that it will get worse…

Maybe an increase in price can help from a different side to solve some of my concerns. I also believe that $39 sounds bette than $40…

@Bebel That’s not fair for anyone. The fact that you put more work in your WP theme will later translate to making more money than a landing page, that doesn’t mean you should get more exposure. WP themes sell much better than HTML templates anyway.

$39 certainly seems like a good idea. Would be cool though if we got someone from Envato commenting on this thread.

A possible solution for this is to allow buyers to choose a default homepage. When they use the homepage item switcher, there could be a liitle checkbox that says “show me this category first from now on”.

I think that’s a very good idea, probably the most viable solution.

So what? It takes you longer to develop a wordpress theme… What does that have to do with new items being showcased on the home page?
