I’d agree that the standard pricing needs an increase, seeing as the elite tool was taken away. Even $5 wouldn’t mean too much of an increase for the user, but would make a huge difference in revenue for authors. - Ed
Well said Ed.

I agree that the prices need to be reviewed and increased. Not only has the quality of the themes gone waaaaay up meaning authors are putting more time into their work, but the cost of living has gone up also. Because of inflation (different for each country/currency) this means that year on year, the amount our earnings is worth has actual gone down by several % per year.
- So the standards have gone up (increasing the value for the buyer)
- The prices have stayed the same (decreasing the value for the author)
- Inflation means our earnings don’t stretch as far as the previous year.
Not good, not good at all. Envato has probably the best theme portfolio of any online marketplace, so the buyers will still come. They also understand that each year everything must rise its price to at least keep pace with inflation. Heck they have probably already raised their freelance rates for this same reason. So there is only one loser in this situation and guess what, it’s the Authors. Hurrrrray!

Totally agree.
Competition is higher then before, we’re staying less longer on the homepage, all our expenses went up, wife wants more
, and you name it.
So Envato, come on and raise the prices, it’s beneficial for both parties.

Yep, yep, yep and yep! Well said, pixelentity.
I agree with the suggestion and most of the comments. I think it would be reasonable $50 for the high quality WP themes ($35 now) and respectively for the rest of the templates and other items.
I think Envato opposes price increases because they have a reputation of selling high quality items at low prices. But in all honesty, the price/quality ratio is way off. Buyers are getting very high quality items for the price of almost nothing. I seriously doubt increasing prices by $5-$10 will hurt sales or traffic.

Fun fact: you can’t even afford a cup of coffee from a sale on Envato anymore!
Seriously though, Envato may reason that lower prices bring more customers, and in turn, benefit everyone. I don’t think this is the case for TF as much as, for instance, App Marketplace.
1. Buyer base is rather limited and a majority of buyers are resellers themselves. TF is a highly specialized niche offering. This is very different to some marketplace, for say, all iDevice owners. On the other hand, just about everyone in the industry already knows about TF and purchases here.
2. There is no incentive for authors to do anything original, projects “not for everyone”, because in that case you can not expect to make a profit due to limited customer base. This can result in flooding marketplace with clones of some popular high-selling products.
3. Even in emerging economies themes bought on TF are resold for hundreds of dollars, so a small 10$ increase will make absolutely no difference to the end customer, but a huge difference for authors. In fact, developers providing customization already raised their prices.
4. As mentioned above, quality and complexity of items on TF is astonishing, and there is no real competition at this price tag on the market. Other shops are already offering higher pricing.
5. Considerable resources are spent providing support (and not providing it is not an option, despite what guidelines may claim).
6. As mentioned above, prices just about anywhere on the globe have gone up considerably in last couple of years. Hairdresser asks more for his services, why can’t developer? Raising prices is just a natural process for any business, and nothing to be afraid of.
Thus I believe raising prices will be highly beneficial to Envato, customers, authors and industry as a whole. Customers will get more diverse offerings, quality products and support, Envato and authors will get more money.
Hey Guys, already the sales are very slow if i we going to price high so at the end of month its not profitable to us.
