I work for a children’s educational company as an Illustrator & Game Developer and it’s always nice to see sites like this open up. Kids don’t have enough healthy things to do on or off the web. Your school looks really nice, especially the interior photos. I know it’s not open but I wish you had more of those with children in them so the school doesn’t look as empty (don’t know if this is part of the missing 1%). : )
One suggestion I’d make is to saturate the site with more consistent graphic work. Right now you have spot illustrations with a lot of different characters and backgrounds, but you aren’t creating any scenarios which pertain to any of your site’s sections or content. They are just still characters and they don’t tell the story of what your school is about. They don’t highlight any special activities or what your school’s mission is. Having a mascot to work with, next time you redesign your site you might want to include him in the bulk of your graphic work so he is associated with your brand more. The character you chose for “Mother tongue English teacher” is a little scary looking in my opinion. He doesn’t look like a person you’d want to expose to your children, or not ideally anyway. : D
I also think if you had your photos edited so they’re a little smoother, cleaner and the color saturation were upped a little, they’d add a lot more appeal to the “real world” aspect of your site/school.
There is a small problem with the navigation you might want to look into. Once you’re in gallery mode and the menu section goes off the screen, it’s a little hard to see the blue tab again and remember that its there. If you made the box have an outline or change it to another color so it stands out from the background more that might help.
Those are my two cents. Overall, it is a nice colorful site. The illustration work itself is nice and you can’t tell it was made off a template which is what everyone aims for when making mayor edits to these things. Congrats and good luck!
