I was wondering if anyone could let me know if I’m allowed to maintain an open source version of one of my items? (or even part of?)
The CodeCanyon version will still have the main features and still developed by me but the community will be in charge of the other. I’ll dual license the code s I’m still allowed to feed community changes into the CodeCanyon version.
Why? For one, it’ll make the CodeCanyon version stronger. And two, I’ve always wanted to have an open source project.
Cheers. Jarrod.
Sure you can do that, just make the open source a lite version and the codecanyon a pro version or something like that. Use your open source to promote your codecanyon “pro” item.
OK, thanks. And that won’t effect my CodeCanyon exclusiv’ivivivity?

I think you won’t break any CC’s rules about exclusivity since the Open Source won’t be for sale, the exclusivity is strictly for selling only on CodeCanyon and no other place, so I guess you should be fine, but you could open a ticket to support, and ask them if you want to be 100% safe.

Actually the rules refer to distributing not selling – so the other version of the script must be different then what you have on CC

Aye, a premium item needs to be a completely different than a free item.
