Need some help with saving to a DB and then displaying number of spaces left

Hi Guys,

I have built an online reservation form which collects details of users who would like to attend an event then it sends them to paypal to pay and reserve their place.

But i need it to save some details into a DB before it sends them off to PayPal.

Any Ideas?

Also i then need to take of the number of people registered and display space available on my page??
