I bought a lot of project files on videohive, but i never get the missing file problem in after effects. When I created a project file and move the folder to another place, I will get this error. So how do you fix this?

Just use option “collect files” in Ae.

Go to File – Collect Files, in AE menu.

The collect files tool only works when you build a project and collect it before moving everything. If you purchased a file here that’s throwing a missing file error, it’s because you moved the project out of the folder structure. Pretty much, when the project is created After Effects uses the folder structure to know where to look for the assets. So lets say you extract a file from here into a folder. Inside that folder is the project, and then another folder called “Assets” with images that are used in the project.
When you open the project in After Effects, the program is looking for a folder titled “Assets” in the same root that the project file was opened from. If you moved the project outside of that root, After Effects wont be able to find that assets folder, and all of the assets within it.
To fix this you can do a few things. Either move the project back into the root directory with the assets folders, or move the asset folders into the new place you moved the project. Or you could just re-add them in from their new location. To do this click okay to close the error. Then in the project palette find the missing file/s. You’ll know that a file is missing because the little icon that shows next to it will look like color bars on a TV. Double click on any files that are missing, and it will bring up a browse dialog. Find and select the missing file, and it will change the location link to the new place. Also if you link up one asset that’s in a folder with many other missing assets, those should also re-link.

One more tip….to show only the missing assets in a project, type ‘missing’ into the search field in After Effects’ project window.
