Even IE9 ?

In some parts I felt IE9 performs better than chrome, FF and Safari. Not always but it is noticeable at certain parts.

Honestly, only IE6 was problematic for me, the following versions were not that difficult to support. And as a side note, IE10 is incredibly smooth and fast.

This. The IE9 & 10 are really decent browsers.

Seconded. I’ve not had too many problems with IE, though prior to IE9 I’ve had to give IE special treatment, and often maintain a separate code path for IE8 and below vs the rest of the browsers, mostly due to differences in the API.

IE9 has changed that a lot for me as they have standardized much of the API. That said, I currently enjoy a snappier experience in IE10 and it’s still not the browser I use by default, which may very well change as the disappointment keeps growing with Chrome and Firefox ^^

Let’s also not forget Opera, which is currently the underdog. If you think about it, much of the innovation has come from Opera and yet their market share is low on the desktop. Features we all take for granted today like tabbed browsing and preview, tab grouping, download managers, chat client and torrent manager baked in, mouse gestures and there’s probably more features I’ve forgotten to mention or not know of even.

They also route requests through a compressing service they call “turbo”, which gives a nice speedier experience, quite noticeable on mobile.

That said, I should also consider looking at the possibilities of making Opera my default browser :)

It would be better if there was single browser in the world. Diversity of Browsers have been really painful to designers and developers rather than useful. What do you guys think about it?

Monopoly and stagnation come to mind. IE6 is a good indicator of this, after all they had the largest market share with Firefox and the remaining players dividing what little was left. We all saw how that ended. Microsoft only released a new version after 5 long years, and it wasn’t even that impressive.

I prefer the highly competitive market we have today, sure it means a little bit more work for developers but we get paid for it. The way I see it, a mutually beneficial deal ^^
