I have created a collection of CSS3 buttons and want them to display in I.E correctly. I have tried the ‘PIE.htc’ fix, but it does not work for me, although, I think I may be missing something.

the htc fix probably doesn’t work because your server doesn’t recognize the “htc” filetype:
http://effectivewebdesigns.blogspot.com/2011/05/how-to-add-htc-mime-type-to-your-apache.htmlBut if you plan to sell the buttons, this probably isn’t a great solution because buyers would have to do the same thing and some people are on shared servers and don’t even have access to their .htaccess file.
You might want to just make them look the best you can with IE filters and just live with the result. From my experience, buyer’s sort of know what to expect with legacy IE when it comes to CSS3 stuff.
