Hey everyone!

Jeffrey here. Now that the Tuts+ marketplace has been out for a while, we’d love to know what you’d like to see in the coming months. What would make this marketplace better? More vendors? More topics? Let us know! :D

I think it’s perfectly fine. Although the forums seem kinda slow. This marketplace needs to be advertised more to get it more active. :)

The main thing for me is that the time to submit tutorials take far to long.

My last tutorial took almost 2 weeks to be approved, and there were only 3 tutorials before me in the queue. In contrast, when I uploaded something to GraphicRiver (is that what it’s called?) there were 80! before me, but you got to me on the same day. I realize that checking tutorials might take a tiny bit longer due to the reading/viewing involved, but really, the difference shouldn’t be this big.

Second would be a very very slow payout time. I requested a payout over 2 weeks ago, and it still hasn’t been done.

The last is that I feel it’s somewhat bad sport by Envato to pimp out their own stuff and that by partners so much.

Apart from that things are looking pretty good. I don’t see a need for more categories, when some categories are still empty.

Actually, let me clarify that a bit. Firstly, I see (or feel I see?) a lot of features that are by Envato themselves.

But more importantly, when looking at the newest submitted files to tutsplus, 46 of the newest 60 files are by XXXpremium (Ex: AePremium, VectorPremium). One problem is not so much that Envato puts these files up there, but often that they are split into a ton of different segments, so it’s like 6 files that get approved. What that does is push all the other authors out from the front page. For instance, if only the “first” part of a segment would be featured on the front page, 8 (almost 25% of all the front featured files) would be removed, leaving room for many more different tutorials, and possibly also more room for independent authors.

If xxxxPremium files were removed from the front page, 29 of the 40 featured files would be gone, again leaving room for independent authors.

While I understand Envato obviously, and understandably, want to also sell their own files, perhaps they could take up a little less space?

As a new user, I’ve found the search engine experience to be somewhat frustrating. Either I can’t get the OR, AND , and NOT functions to work or they’re not there. Looking for directions on search has come up blank.

Also, I’d like to suggest making the results per page controllable, i.e., able to be increased.

Thanks for your time.

Howard – We’re definitely working to make the search process more succinct.

Allow me to make a suggestion that should be considerably faster to implement than fixing the search engine: Make the number of results per page user selectable OR just increase the default to, say, fifty.

I would imagine it’d be a pretty safe bet than anyone using this site has a high speed connection.

faster approval and payments is a MUST … you get 50% (depending on sales) of are earnings so i would like to get a faster service. would be nice as well if we could earn a bit extra on the hosting button when buying themes.

Faster approval would indeed be very nice. I’ve waited up to 5 days to get a tut approved, even when there were only a total of 2 tuts in line for approval :S An update to one of my tuts is waiting for approval for 5 days now, even though it’s the only update :S I understand it takes time to go through tutorials, but when I take a go at GraphicRiver, there were over 50 items waiting to be approved, and my item got checked in 2 days.
