Can anyone recommend a good hosting company for an e-commerce website?

It depends on the size of your website. Host Gator is good and Media Temple is “the best” from what I hear.

In terms of reliability and customer service, is there any that stand out as being particularly good? Also they must be pci compliant.

In terms of reliability and customer service media temple are the best. They aren’t pci compliant however. Good luck finding someone.

stay away from green geeks… I bought a hosting package with them and in the ads they said I have backup available on a push of a button but when I payed my subscription and checked the cPanel there was no backup available… only if I ftp the files/sql database to my PC and so on…

also i did not get all my money back…

On the other hand I had my business with BlueHost and they were OK

cheap : hostgator, bluehost; premium : vps.net or “mediatemplate” or siteground bud..

I am rather satisfied with www.site5.com (good customer service, backups available for 30 days), but have also heard www.ovh.co.uk is pretty reliable.

I near enough always use www.ovh.co.uk
