Prepare, Love and Help each other.

It is funny you say that and at the same time you are against socialism. I know that this is heading to a forbidden topic but I cannot agree that Capitalism is the best solution. We are living a very hard crisis because of Capitalism.

Firstly I come from an ex-communist country. I was born in Moldova (ex soviet republic) and although I did not reach Communism I know that my parents had the chance to study free, and not only that, they were paid while they were studying. Everyone had the change to become whatever they wanted. I’m not defending Communism, we’ve lived well, but it failed. Now I live and study in Spain, an European country that had a socialist govern until this year (2012). Obviously it is nothing comparable with the Soviet Union, but I want to focus on education. My parents are not very wealthy but I get very high grades on school. This year is my last year on high-school and probably I will be one of the students with the highest grades of my school. I want to study architecture on UPV (Universitat Politecnica de Valencia) and probably the government will give me the money to pay my studies as long as I keep being a good student. UPV is one of the best places in Spain to study architecture, Calatrava studied there. Then, when I will start working, I will pay with my taxes the studies of other good students so they can have the chance I had. This is socialism.

What would have happened if I studied in America? Would the Government help me study, let’s say, at Harvard? Unless my parents were able to afford it, I would never have that chance! So, if you are rich, you can afford a good career, If you are not wealthy in America, you can be as good as you want, but you will not have the career of the wealthy ones.

Sadly, the actual govern of Spain is making cuts on education, they will only help the best of the best of the best ones. So probably after 2 or 3 years I will have to start paying my education. And even more sadly, the students that will go to university after me will not even have the chance I am having now. This is one of the reasons I do not like USA and the capitalism they invented.

@Stylius Socialism and Communism is almost same thing just different names and both of them don’t work, it all sounds good but there is few problems.
  1. They will pay for your school and hospital etc. But then you have to do what they will tell you to. No freedom like in Soviet Union you had to praise Lenin if you don’t you will be no body and your kids will suffer. If you believed in God you go to jail. If you want to build the house you will build it like they tell you to. If you want to succeed in life, forget about it. If you want to start the business you not human. I can go on and on about the Soviet Union and Communism.
  2. Socialism is a fail system cause there is no logic. Money don’t fall from the sky, someone have to make them and I don’t mean print them. Socialism don’t make money, they don’t know how. They spend money that’s why they always fail.
  3. Socialists sound good when they speak, they care about you but at the same time they want to control you not help you. No one can help you better than you can do it your self.
  4. I can write a book about a problems with Socialism

Name one socialist/communist country that ever succeed. On the other hand Capitalist US got ahead of any country ever by far on-till socialists got to power. I am a man and I can control my life better than anyone else. That’s Capitalism.
Euro will fail cause they waist to much money and they don’t know how to live anyway different. Something like that will happened to US unless they go back to founding principals. (No offense to anyone mate’s but that’s the reality)
Why people hate rich? They support the government, they donate more then anyone else, they give people jobs, they….......... Why rich people are bad? Why after you succeed in life people hate you for that?

Nothing is FREE in life, nothing. School is not free, hospital is not free, nothing is! Someone have to pay for it and it’s not government. Most of the time if you get something for Free that’s mean some rich person paid it for you.
Please educate your self about this kind of stuff and then pick the way to live your life.

I said “Love each other and help each other” and that’s what capitalists and descent human beings do. Socialists don’t help people they use them.

I don’t mean to offend anyone here. I’m saying this cause some one have to.

@Folksnet I understand your point of view but I cannot agree. We both exposed our arguments and going on with this topic goes against the forum rules. :)

Lets try keep this thread away from the (sometimes heated) discussions about political topics :)

The Australian Dollar is also looking rather nicely at the moment:

Just have to wait for PayPal exchange rate to catch up :) haha.

Interesting topic!

@Stylius the reason you are in Spain is because of the freedoms you have, and because the country is doing well – infrastructure, institutions, law, people – all because of capitalism. To say that communism or socialism or any other type of system is better than the system where you provide for yourself, is ignorant. That’s all I have to say on the subject, it really makes no sense to argue about it, it’s just common sense.

If anyone can enlighten me about a different subject.. where did the money borrowed to Greece since the bailout went? How much money did they get, and didn’t this amount cover their debt already?

I just don’t understand why they keep saying Greece is in trouble, every couple of weeks, and they need even more money borrowed. What happened to the money they received previously? Did those money help or they vanished in a big pocket? If it didn’t help, than why lend them more money? Will the money help now? This goes on and on.. I don’t get it.

This chaos is causing Greece even more harm. Basically people get the money out of the greek banks, and this is Greece’s worst nightmare.

Speaking of which – how do you guys consider is safe to keep your deposits now? Property, a certain currency, deposits in usd? And where?

Where to keep your money at? Easy. Just think of the worst case scenario that could happen to our civilization and make a priority list of which investments options are likely to fail you and which are not.

So my first investment choice would be land, because it cannot fail you under any circumstance.

Second is gold because it has an inherent value unlike currencies which are nothing but worthless paper backed by governments.

Third would be USD because it’s backed by the government which (in my opinion) would be the last one to fall in the worst case scenario.

Euro is backed by a group of governments which can turn their backs to each other at the slightest shake of the boat. So it’s the last currency i’d keep my money at. In fact, i think one must be crazy to keep large sums of euros in their bank accounts!

Any thing can happen anytime, when i was a small kid there was a soviet union and one day it’s gone!

One more question – in what way is the US & world crisis, related to what happens now in Greece? Since Greece, I haven’t read much about the world economy being in trouble because of the crisis. It’s all related to Greece now, as if the Lehman Brothers Bank bankruptcy is related in some way.

Can’t bend my head around all this. :)

I’m no expert but the money that would bailout Greece wasn’t enough to cover their whole debt and it was meant to be given gradually as long as Greece employs certain cuts from their budgets. But greek politicians are having a hard time convinving people to accept these hard regulations. They can’t even form a government. So bailout isn’t working as planned.

US has its own problems. It cannot export goods to China so they need to export somewhere or shut down their production facilities. For many years, they lended money to the european countries and sold goods to them. It was working good but every good thing has an end :) Many european countries reached unimaginable amounts of debt that they can’t even pay back the interest. The chain of trust is broken.

Euro is going down so it’s becoming harder for europeans to import goods from the US. In turn, US corporations needs to lay off their staff which creates unemployment. When people are unemployed they can’t payback their mortgages, etc.

So, everything is connected. When one party fails it has a large domino effect. It’s hard to explain the whole economy in a short post with my limited English. Sorry, if it didn’t make much sense :)
