Q) I noticed that the site has a 50% rake back from the sales, what kind of traffic can i expect for this rate on PHP scripts? Would there be a lot of individual advertisement needed to get it sold?

Traffic Expectation for CodeCanyon: 10% organic search, 90% Envato marketplace. Holidays and Envato’s free file of month, Envato’s bundle offers have effect over traffic.

Thanks for the reply and info.
Yea I’ve come up with an awesome web application idea, there’s nothing like it. I’m debating whether it is a wise to sell it on a marketplace like this or sell it my self on subscription based.

Thanks, got your point.
I guess you should sell it via Envato marketplace if and only if you think you will be able to sell less than 5 units per week on your own website [Checkout weekly-popular php-scripts for number of sales]
One point of view could be, say someone has a standalone contact us form, he sale it via CodeCanyon, because he would not able to attract Graphics-Designers & Consultants community himself. But if he make a Joomla based contact form he may not sell it via CodeCanyon, because Joomla items have low sales, here, he would rather get more prospects via JED (J! extension directory).
My personal approach would be to use CodeCanyon for both versions (using JED as well but with CodeCanyon URLs), because I get other benefits as well apart from marketplace, like community, secure & reliable payment method, flexiblity of licensing, traffic to my website etc.
