Forum moderation and Item discussion

FD staff have been reading forums all weekend. We have taken your opinions in and would like to make the following points:

With regard to Items and self promotion. By default, all new Items are now ordered in the category list by date of approval. All files get equivalent exposure on the site.

We will be creating a new forum section, that will not appear on the home page, for members wishing to discuss new files etc. This will allow authors and buyers to discuss their Items and create feature ‘wish lists’. We hope this will be deployed today.

At Flashden we value positive and helpful community forums. Consequently, everyone should be aware that from time to time FlashDen disables the accounts of members who break the FD terms of reference – specifically with regard to participation in the forums.

Generally we try to not to heavily moderate the forums and allow free speech. We have had to step in today however and ‘trim’ some of the threads for the benefit of the whole community.

We will be appointing official moderators very shortly to ensure that this positive and helpful theme stays strong and true on the forums. We hope to make those announcements shortly after discussion with specific members.

vahid, thank you for reacting so fast and this good news.. i have only something small to say.. the follow item wishlist and so on dont showed on the home page, thats good…

but wouldn’t it better that they don’t appears on the new threads panel too? just something own… that would be a mess with this section of wishlists

great work vahid… this is good news for FD

@Dada – interesting point that was discussed. New threads only appear once in that panel at creation, as opposed to active threads list, and doesn’t create as much traffic as the home page. But we will play it by ear…
