flyer rejected cause its still glossy? i didn't! :D

so I was rejected cause my urban themed flyer design was to glossy, T_T. but all the effects ive added were lens flares(not the photoshop generated one of course). but also who wouldnt wanna add some subtle shine on a PARTY flyers? I mean i know clients want that. righT?

Perhaps you could post an image of the flyer here so the community can discuss and help you improve it.

The problem is Flyers are in demand right now and there are a lot of authors creating them which means there are already a lot of “glossy” flyers around, This doesn’t necessarily mean your Flyer is bad just that Authors need to start being more original with their designs and come up with some new fresh ideas and styles.

I have to disagree I am afraid, as I took the original approach and both got rejected, I posted here in another post in the forum regarding the 2 flyers that i thought were original and nothing like what GR had to offer, but it seems that even originality cannot pass the stringent expectations of this category.

maybe they are not as original as I thought myself, I do not disagree with the reviewer as my flyers were rejected for a reason, I just feel, must i follow the hip hop, blingy, sexy time ladies, lol or be specific? I am not sure.

I understand the quality expectation is really high, but I have noticed recent approved flyers that are minimal, (not intentionally) and created from a few photoshop brush strokes and big images of icons and idols taking the focus, I don’t like to use superficial items in my designs, I like the end user to have everything they see on the preview, it’s simplistic design some of the flyers that are being approved recently and its made to feel worse when when custom, original ideas are rejected, and quoted, “Try to be original with your design” This really knocks the confidence especially when you think you are being original.

I have items approved quite frequently probably as many as the rejections i get, so this is not an issue regarding, “Poor me i got rejected” This is regarding being told to be original whilst continuing to allow similar items to be approved, it makes you feel dizzy listening to the somewhat precious advice we get from the reviewers which I try to follow, as i feel by sticking to the reasons why my files get rejected can only help me improve, as i must grow and change as the marketplace does, yet somehow end up back at square on.

I just don’t get it, they reject my flyer which didnt have gloss only a subtle lens flare effect, but they’ve just recently approved flyers that were all blingy* ,wherein obviously soft round brushes filled with white where used and layer mode set to screen,. and most are just same style or deviations as other. no offense
