Hello everyone ! I just recently joined CodeCanyon and i’ll be uploading some items soon. I have a question regarding licenses on some icons. I found a set of icons that are licensed under the Creative Commons. Here’s the link. http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc/2.5/.

It says the license are for non-commercial items. If i want to use an icon for the product image altered or unaltered would i break the license ? (i would say so but asking just to make sure )

Also if anyone has some deeper knowledge in this field i would appreciate if you post a short summary about other licenses like ( GPL , LGPL, etc ) regarding usage on code canyon.

Thank you !

Best to contact the icon author asking them if you can use the icons for this purpose. A lot of stock graphics are re-produced around the web under incorrect licenses – so finding the correct author and asking is the safest way.

Most graphic artists will probably just ask for a small fee to use the artwork in commercial applications.
