Anybody use a 13" Laptop?

I currently use a 15” MacbookPro.

I am looking into getting a 13” model with higher specs RAM /CPU etc, but I’m a little unsure of using a smaller screen.

I want the extra portability of having a smaller laptop. Does having a 2” smaller screen really make a difference when it comes to designing stuff?

Anybody got experience going from 15” ›› 13”?

All my themes have been created and designed on an 11inch screen.

MacBook pros with 15 and 17 inch have better specs and are better for photoshop.

I don’t think you will like to work on smaller screen because now u r used to 15 inch going down to 13 will be little trouble for you although if you would have been on 13 or 11 inch it wouldn’t have been a problem just to tell you my experience I am using 27 inch monitor when go out for freelance lots of people use 25 or lower size screen and it’s really impossible for me to work

13” is way too small, you will only be able to work on full screen mode, but that’s too small too.

I used to have a 17” Toshiba laptop. Now I have a 15” Samsung laptop and really I don’t see much of a difference except when making backgrounds (the scrolling can get annoying).

I use a 13” Macbook Pro and have been quite statisfied with the screen size. It easily fits in my messenger bag, so I can comfortably cycle with it, take it to lectures and pop it up on my lap on a bench in the hallway.

When it comes to designing, I’m unsure (as I’ve never gotten that serious). Screen real estate could be important. For coding purposes I havn’t really missed the extra space, though.

Do realise that the screen of a 13” macbook has a great resolution (especially the latest Airs) and the newest version is even rumoured to have a way more spectacular screen

When I was initially in the market for a laptop (after using a desktop, 22” screen) I couldn’t imagine having a 13” – I considered 15” absolutely necessary. After using it for two years, I’ve really come to love its portability above everything else.

At home, I have a 15” laptop. At work, a 13” one. In both places, I have them connected to a 24” and 22” monitors, so at the ‘office’, I’m fine.

But when it comes to working on the go, 2” really makes a difference. (please, no ‘that’s what she said’ jokes). Anyway, I try to stay away from working like that, I find it too restrictive – but I guess it’s because I’m used to having a monitor connected.

So I think it all comes down to what you’re used to. For design, I really suggest you get a monitor. I hear that U2711 from Dell is quite the bomb

I have a 13” Macbook pro, I designed some website on it, It’s not a great idea to work on a 13” , , even that 2 inches on a 15” worth it. But in portability 13” is way better. this is a tough decision between portability and Usability. you have to choose one.

I like to have a smaller laptop for portability paired with a larger monitor for improved productivity. I currently use a 14” laptop with a 24” monitor, but I’m intending to move to a 13” laptop and a 27” monitor. You’re definitely less productive at the smaller sizes, but far less portable with a bulky 15”, so that’s the trade-off. But if you can hook it up to a larger monitor in your primary workspace, you get the best of both worlds in my opinion
