I know tons of authors who are earning more than $3000 / month at Envato marketplaces but is there any affiliates here that are earning $3000 or more / month promoting Envato marketplace products?

I want to start promoting these but any success stories would get it more motivational.

You can easily break this down:

For a referal you get about 30%. So if you refer someone who buys a theme which is worth 45$ you get a cut of about, let’s say 15$. To get the 3000$ you need to refer 200 “new” users – probably some more. I know of some cases where some authors here have refered about 3000+ users who bought something. And they’ve reached that in about 1-2 years.

So in short – yes it is probably possible but it will be pretty hard :)

The affiliate program is most certainly a great way to earn money, especially when also coupled with selling your own products on the Marketplaces.

I can’t give you any solid figures, but there will be many Users earning in excess of $3,000 per month.

I myself have started a small affiliate campaign this year which is beginning to hit numbers of around $800 per month through the Affiliate program alone, and I only promote cheap $6-$10 products.

Multiply that up to a cut from $35-$50 themes and I can definitely see $3,000 as an easily reachable figure :)

WPExplorer has referred more than 2000 users. And I do believe there are a few users on here who make a decent income from only referrals but I can’t recall any of their usernames.

per month? this sounds like a salary .. how it works really, is said month because new users are new referrals in news months? but payment is made only once

I for one would love to see a tutorial on how people make money referring. I started a campaign also but it’s not turning any profit. Not sure how to get it noticed.

Actually any general affiliate marketing tutorial should do it. Basically the ingredients for successful affiliate marketing are a fast, modern website with a strong focus on SEO, a social media presence and continous publishing of valueable content. And as soon as some income is generated you need to reinvest this into targeted ads on various blogs or platforms.

It simply won’t work with a single twitter profile where you post some links.

See wpexplorer for example. They’ve got their own beautiful, modern website (easy to view, modern technologies, search engine optimized…), they publish valueable content (tutorials, free plugins, free themes,...) for the WP Community, they manage various social media profiles like Facebook, Twitter, Google+, Pinterest,...where they also build up their growing network.

Sounds easy, but it isn’t that easy. But if you want to play in that league you probably need to go through all this steps.

I am not well experienced with this but I can confirm that it would be impossible to consistently generate revenue on affiliate. May be at some point, you can find a new way to cater quality click-throughs and make around $3000 in a month but the next few months may not be the same due to saturation. Then you may need to find another new resource etc which obviously require a dozen failure attempts.

So I would suggest keeping affiliate revenue as non dependable – least effort taking activity.

I am currently making around $300 per month on my other account which is dedicated to affiliate. Some of the affiliates come through the custom iframe bar where you have affiliate links to your other themes. The other half comes from my blog where I have among other things, collections like Best Wordpress Themes of 2012 with affiliate links to Themes here on Themeforest.
