That’s my little trade secret ;) (aka, it doesn’t take well to overpopulation :p) But the key is really not only promoting your own stuff, but also the stuff of others, and figure out what sells (note: what sells well on the marketplaces, doesn’t always do good at referring members).

3 years back, I observed this thing. Many referrers try to refer only the big selling files and even manages to overtake google search rankings with their own ad page than direct marketplace item link. For example a high demand file that initially stays up on google search result (with technical keywords) will lose its position due to crowded 3rd party referral attempts. I am not sure if this is something encourage-able or not, it has other positive impacts too; just pointing my observation.
