We got featured. And I just have a feeling there was a big misunderstanding about, my attitude regarding this place. I was shaking the whole weekend and I need to share with all fellow authors my response to the site manager email regarding spotnil’s item being featured.

Here it comes

Let me share something personal. From the begining of the thread to the end I was not aggressive or attacking. I was sincere.

I loved Envato. Okay. Truly. I never ever relied on my income from Envato. I have well paid job. So the money isn’t the reason to support Envato for 4 years. To participate in live meetings. To enjoy the community. To give you ideas (many times I was participating in threads regarding rating system, interface, competitions, twittering, advertising and many others). I truly believed this place, this company is a different kind of a company. A modern corporation. Corporation based on the power of thousands of minds.

It is not about the high price. It is not about SlideDeck being featured. It is about the authors and the healthy relation. Your future is not in the relations with the big guns. The big guns whouldn’t share their know-how, wouldn’t promote Envato, they will not strive to make you better place and company. The authors do. Your future is making the authors and the clients happy. Those big guns do not benefit Envato. They do not generate traffic. 10 000 authors this is what counts.

I do not want to judge your decisions. What I was believing in is gone with this Digital Telepathy. I can predict something. If you stick with those big guns you’ll fail. The big guns are dying. Just because companies like Envato with thousands of minds are way more competitive. This is why SlideDeck is coming here. Cos their sales are lower. This is why they are dying to get more exposure. Because they are dying.

I may be wrong, but what I know is you need to support the authors. You need to really Support them. Because every good small item builds Envato.

Do not supress the negative threads, but make a poll. Ask the people. And when you make decision, take into account the authors opinion. This why you can make things bolder and profitable. The authors will complain less and will feel more involved. Will be willing to work more and to make more money – for them and for you. And new great items will come. Lower the % you take away and make bigger profit. Cos the authors will die to stay with you. Will do greater and greater job. The wind is blowing in your sails, don’t let it pass you.

I feel really really cheated and hope that the bitter taste will go away soon. Cos as I said in the thread, I was taking Envato very personal. Like my own company. I lost too much energy in this and I just gave up.

Why… Is this not site feedback? Don’t get mad at baker for doing his job… Not to be a douche but no one is going to miss your 20 items especially if you only generated 4k in sales over a 4 year period. In terms of daily sales I highly doubt having a $50 item is really cutting into all the other slider sales.

i am not mad. seriously. I said it is hilarious just because the thread had been moved so quickly but the questions are not handled in the same manner.

about my 20 items. I think this place is valuable just because of the diversity of the items regardless of their sales. If the items are good (mine were cos some of them had 300-400 sales), they help to the marketplace versatile supply. For example I had the only one Flash based Contact form with ColdFusion implementation.

Or do you think everyone who has low sales has to be kicked out from here?

In the interest of fairness, the exclusivity topic was not brought up until two days ago by iapcsolutions. There is no guarantee support was contacted at that time. Considering the reply immediately following iapcsolutions (which was by designcise) was posted over twelve hours later, the issue might not have reached support until yesterday. And even then, support is an issue-by-issue thing. Just because one particular issue was solved immediately doesn’t mean another issue will. Regardless, support will take the appropriate action—whether it takes thirty minutes or a few days.

I do not feel like I have to argue with your or Envato for anything. I am sharing my opinion. I am trying to HELP you and my fellows here. And would like to share something else with you: after awhile you’ll see that my opinion was extremely helpful to Envato. Even if I was wrong.

But if you guys think my opinion is with no value I’ll stop bothering you. Cos I think I spend way too much energy for something which is not paying back to me.

I hope you’ll resolve the issue with the mentioned item above in the best interest of CC and the fellow authors. Cos the authors are the meat and the bones of this marketplaces.

I didn’t mention exclusivity because this is not a forum issue. If it turns out that the item is identical to what’s offered on their site, then we’ll take appropriate action. That’s the extent of your involvement in the matter, with respect. We’ve been notified. We’re looking into it.

But it looks like it takes you much longer (5 days since this thread started) for this particular item while at the same time every person here can confirm that they can not do what they do if they have to agree with your Agreement. this is why we are discussing here openly.

I’ve never seen so much hostility toward a new fellow author, guys. If you want to remove all your items because we’re testing a slightly higher price-point for an item that rightly deserves it, then I’m sorry to hear that.

My recommendation is that you focus less on others, and more on building the next killer CC item.

Now that’s not to say that we don’t appreciate forum feedback immensely – we do! But please try to make your comments constructive, rather than hostile – particularly when speaking about your peer authors.

Somebody referenced the idea of commercial vs. community. I like to think we’re both. But let’s get down to it – every item on this marketplace is a commercial item. It seems to me that the real hostility is coming from the fact that this team has put so much work into the product. Why is that a threat? All of you can do the same (and many of you do). Our goal on CC is to sell the best components on the web. Period.

I got an answer from the support! And from my understanding you Envato understand my feelings and feel sorry that I leave. I appreciate that.

But it is not about feelings. You just do not want to get to the point: do we all have equal opportunities here or some of the authors have been and will be tolerated?

I just need to know if they are allowed or not by your Agreement to be Exclusive while offering the same product on their site . So if they are allowed we are allowed too.

I need simple plain answer: Yes or No. And as an author and your long years business partner I think I have this rights to ask this question publicly so all other authors are aware what is going on.

It is just an illusion. If we reach our maximum % share within 6 months of entering into the marketplace (so many authors doing this in TF), we will say things positively about income. Of cource, if we have to take 10 years to reach reasonable %, then we have nothing positive to say about worthiness of microstock.

regardless how you achieve the high income % you are ripped off while you are making it. And that for sure is not an illusion.

@donchev_a .. totally agree with you .. i didn’t want to reply to this thread anymore because as always, people who find this issue a problem are too afraid to join the discussion and people who’re employed by envato (and established authors) are always trying to suppress our voices by telling us that we’re wrong in every way and that whatever envato is doing is totally right. they need to instead value our opinion and listen to us with an open-mind because this is an important issue. they need to keep the pricing fair for everyone (if they want to test new pricing, it needs to be done with every item in that category and not just one) and if they allow that author to be exclusive on minor differences, then we should all be allowed (and yes i’ve contacted support so please don’t tell us over and over again to do that). being featured comes way after the first two points are cleared out and dealt with.

Dude I am done! I deleted my files on my personal account (I had 20). I’ll wait passionately for their response. If they have to tell me something.

After that I’ll release all my files for free. Everything with no exception. Plugins, flash files…

I simply can not handle such ignorant behavior. I spent hundreds of dollars on buying items. (I have third account for that). I spent countless hours working on files for Envato, spent in promoting, in support, on the forums trying to help and share opinion. The total I got from here is $4000 for 4 years. This in average $80 monthly. I mean come on, only one freelance project for $2000 for 2 weeks and I am good for an entire year.

Everyone is free to share opinion and free of expression.

if you think for a second you’ll see, it is meaningless to keep here files. Our work is very high quality. Recently It has been sold for no money with no respect from Envato. I am really pissed.
