Yes, you are allowed to redistribute WordPress with your own skin and without any kind of affiliation to WordPress, as long as you keep it GPL..
Now that you have explained I guess it really does not sound that bad We are just always very cautious about copyright issues, and such questions look somewhat suspicious.
There is no talk about modifying WordPress as a product, the issue is about distributing WordPress as it is, without any modifications despite the logo and original links.
And also we get questions like this:
How come do we get asked that at all? Do we look like a bunch of lawbreakers? )))
Sometimes the questions we get asked plunge us into a stupor…
