Hey, this might have been a firefox/windows/flash player etc.. issue, since I experienced this for a few days also on youtube….. I think it just went away, but I’ll keep an eye on it.
....but only at Tim’s and PinkZebras portfolio and new items
Love how you guys are managing to turn circumstances to your advantage, I think the term ‘make a virtue out of necessity’ is the right one to use here

Must have been hell of a lot of work and maybe it will inspire Envato/Audiojungle to work even faster on the promised new search engine
I like to nominate this awesome track by TacoMusic

Constructive feedback should in theory contribute to improvement, which raises quality which is good for all of us. The problem with a generic rejection is that the author does not know if it is:
- Composition quality
- Production Quality
- ‘marketplace policy’ (I assume this means something other than the music)
If you sell files on this marketplace, you will be treated like a professional (as will everyone else here). As a result, it’s your job as a professional composer to be able to work out the answers to the question above, not AJ’s.
If you do this for a while – whether you work in stock, music-to-picture, or other aspects of music media – you will end up working with people who:
- Give no feedback at all.
- Give too much feedback (Yes, there is such a thing).
- Give feedback that makes no sense.
As a composer, you have to work out what it all means, and then you have to be able to self-critique your work and work out what’s wrong with it. Sometimes it isn’t obvious, sometimes it is.
Besides ,by not giving detailed feedback for hard rejection, they 1) speed up the review process and 2) are actually helping you develop your own ear/intuition and ability to evaluate your own music, even if you don’t realize it at first.
Sure it’s annoying if you get a track rejected, but work out WHY it was rejected. That’s your job, not AJ’s. As explained earlier, giving soft-rejected tracks feedback is a far better use of reviewers’ time than giving hard-rejected tracks feedback.
+100
Thank you, Gareth, this just sums it up and there is really nothing to add. As far as I had the chance to listen to some of the hard rejections here on the forums lately, I can totally understand why they were hard rejected and I am really glad that obviously AJ took the 100.000 item mark as a milestone to raise the quality bar.
All that’s left to say is:

This feature does not work for audio sold on the Envato network, simple as that.I personally agree with you, although we haven’t made a formal decision on this yet. A similar problem exists on PhotoDune and other items.
The first step we’re taking is to collect the primary reason for the rating from the buyer, so that we can see what the root cause of “surprising” ratings on AJ are.
Come on Envato, it’s time to allocate resources into the right areas like the search engine, this type of development really isn’t needed in the AJ marketplace. I can only see the reason for publicly ignoring the majority of authours’ opinions is because you have to roll features out across all marketplaces at once – is that right?Search is a big deal for us, even if it’s not evident yet. We’re actively hiring developers and other folks with specialist experience in this field, dedicated to working on search full time.
We do roll out features to all marketplaces at once (they’re the one code base, the same server can serve a request for AJ followed by PD followed by TF). This is mostly a really really good thing (most features are of benefit to most marketplaces, and they all get them at the same time without duplication of work) and occasionally not so good (where a particular category or marketplace needs something different).
There’s plenty of places where we’ve done something unique to suit a marketplace, and we will need to get better at this and do it more frequently in order to deliver a great user experience in each market place.
This can’t all happen instantly, but we’re definitely not ignoring you.
Good to hear that the search is still a major priority. Let’s be honest, it’s been a while since the new search was announced and the complaints of customers about the outdated search engine keep coming even more since Audiojungle has grown so fast over the last year.
But back to topic: I’m glad that you agree with Taco, because I think he’s spot on. This feature doesnt work for Audiojungle, nor does it work for Photodune. So I hope it will be only a temporary solution and I’m looking forward to see a better rating system for the ‘what you see/hear is what you get’ marketplaces in the near future.
Congrats, Eric! Very well deserved! Have a great week
Impressive! Thanks for sharing.
Awesome achievement!!
Congrats
Great job! Congrats
